Yeah, they were funny too, but I think a series called 'A Series of Unfortunate Events' has to live up to it's name somewhat. =)

They were underlyingly sad. They of course had an air of humour, but the story (especially The End, I was bawling) is depressing

They were sad and at the last chapters of perilous peril I actually cried.

i think the books were sadder, only because all the situations were described with more detail, than the could ever have been in a movie. xox

i didn't really find them depressing...just slightly sad. everything always went wrong. but i guess that was the point. :)

They were funny too, but Lemony Snickett did warn us to put the book down the moment you read the first sentence. He warned us it would be a tragic story!

they were sad. The movie wasnt good. I got bored half way into it. I didnt read the last book yet. Im almost done with the 12th. Are they still misreable at the end? All i know is that olaf dies.

Yes they were depressing, but I laughed more often than I wallowed in despair, so I'd say they weren't sad.
