Chapter 1: Enter Jason Sev and Rachel Cross
"Name's Jason Sev, meister. u have probably heard of me, top, boven of the N.O.T. class at the Death Weapon Meister Academy. Prepare yourself for my awesomeness, Notre Dame the hunchback." Jason Sev was taller than the average person. He had blue eyes, brown hair and a confident look in his eyes. "Now I'm sorry but I will have to kill u now. That is the result of the path u have chosen, taking the lives of innocent humans and devouring their souls. But take pride that I shall be the one to kill you. u will be able to see what all the talk about me is for, and how I worthily deserve it. u will see fighting like no other, fighting so-"
With one smooth motion a leg swept under Jason, knocking the feet from under him and causing him fall face first. "Maybe u should stop talking about killing this guy and actually kill him." The speaker and owner of the leg was Rachel Cross. Weapon and partner of Jason Sev, she was shorter than the average person, had blond hair and green eyes, and looked quite annoyed.
"Hey, what was that for?" Jason said, as he got up immediately and placed his angry face right in front of Rachel's.
Notre Dame looked at them confused. It, for it was hard to tell what was the creature's gender, was a twisted humanoid form that was hunched over. It was due to this deformed look that it gained the titel "The Hunchback." It had the look of a murderer and its large, powerful hands were obviously its method of murder. Seeing that they were busy arguing with each other, Notre quietly started to climb a building.
"Because u deserved it!" Rachel responded angrily to Jason, oblivious to the fact that their target was escaping. "Why did I have to be partnered with such an overconfident and arrogant fool!"
"And why did I have to be partnered to such a naggy girl who does not appreciate me!" Jason retorted back, as he turned his back to Rachel. He then noticed the spot where their target used to be was now empty. "Whaaa! The hunchback is gone!"
Rachel spun around. "What, u let him go?" She then proceeded to look around while ignoring Jason's complaints about the blame being placed on him. "Look! There's the hunchback!" she zei while pointing up at the hunchback who had just reached the roof of the building.
The hunchback turned around in start at having been discovered, and then dashed off, jumping from house to house.
"Damn it! Don't u wana see me fight! This is a once in lifetime chance!" Jason yelled at the retreating figure.
"Stop talking and start running" Rachel yelled at him as she sprinted past.
...
Rachel and Jason were resting against a building, completely out of breath.
"Great he got away," Rachel zei in an annoyed voice. "Maybe if u had concentrated meer on the mission and less of how 'awesome' u are, this would have not happened."
"Awwww, I really wanted to toon off my awesome fighting." Jason zei in a sad tone, apparently oblivious of what Rachel just said.
"You will never learn will you," Rachel zei in a calm voice. They often fought, but they never held a grudge. They had been through a lot and she could not think of anyone else as her partner, and she knew that Jason felt the same thing. "So that's another assignment failed. What do u think Lord Death will do to us?"
"Oh I'm sure he will realize this was not our fault. Just another fluke. Anyone would have failed this mission. I mean that's the only way someone like me with such awesome skills could have failed. And it's not like he would give us-"
...
"Summer assignments?" Jason and Rachel zei in unified disbelief.
They were in the Death Room, the room of the Grim Reaper, aka Lord Death. It could be considered the principal's room of a normal school. All around was open and there was no signs of walls, despite them being inside. Was it real of an illusion, it was hard to tell. Odd looking clouds were lazily moving across the bright blue "sky." All around was dry, cracked dirt. There was no sign of gras of any other life. The only thing that could be seen out there were the numerous black crosses, stuck up at awkward and seemingly random positions. It was an odd combination of cheerfulness and ominous.
Extending from the door used to enter and exit the room was a raised plateau, at the end of which was a mirror. In front of this mirror stood Rachel and Jason.
Lord Death image was in the mirror, the mirror being a way to communicate with Lord Death, like a kind of video chat. Lord Death was in an impressive black which covered his body and head. No legs were seen though, and it was often wondered if Death even had a body. He however did have arms and large white hands, which were often used to perform his infamous "Reaper Chop" of to wield a Death Scythe in times of need. He also wore a cartoony looking skull mask. globaal, algemene he looked awfully silly for someone as feared and respected as he.
"Well u have failed several of your assignments," Lord Death zei in a voice and tone that fitted his silly look, "And if u don't complete this summer assignment and gather 6 souls, u will be expelled."
...
"We are going be expelled because of your stupidity!" Rachel yelled at Jason. They had left the Death Room and were now walking outside the school.
"*MY* stupidity?" Jason yelled back, "The extra assignments are obviously for *YOU*!" Then Jason paused and spoke again in a cheerful voice. "Ahh I see! It's because they want to keep me around. They would be lost without my awesome skills around."
Rachel sighed, "Whatever makes u happy. Well summer is just a week away. And while everyone else will be enjoying their break, we will be off hunting souls."
Jason smiled back at her, "A chance to toon off my awesome skills."
Rachel smiled back. "Oh well," she thought to herself, "I'm sure we will get will get through this. He actually is a pretty good meister."
