I admit, I ended up loving them as a couple when they eventually did, but in the first few episodes I found it refreshing to watch a boy socialise with a group of girls, keeping things completely platonic. It reminds us that guys and girls can be really good friends without involving romance. My reason for accepting (and enjoying) Ginger and Darren's eventual romantic relationship was because I also happen to like it when romantic couples are portrayed as previously having a good friendship to begin with.
