The Kite Runner definatly. there are a lot of other awesome books out there, but this one is really interesting and makes you think

Personally I really liked: "Snowflower and the secret fan" by Lisa See. (not completely sure about authors name) it's a great book and it makes you appreciate the life you have.

well.....i don't know if you would like it but the maximum ride books are great. there are five books now. the fifth book just came out.

Vampire Academy Series and Mortal Instruments Series are some of my favorite...

the mortal instruments series is really good.
Im not sure if you would be into this kind of thing, but "Anne of Green Gables" and "the princess bride" are both really good books too.
