Justin Farell Alamar (born April 23, 1982), better known as J Farell, is an American record producer from Cherry Hill, NJ. He broke into the recording industry in 2010 and is best known for producing dance remixes, club remixes, and hip hop mixes for artists such as Kreayshawn, J. Cole, Roscoe Dash, Gorilla Zoe, Hyper Crush, Cash Out, Rita Ora, and more club remixes. He received the first official hip hop placement with Entertainment One for the pop club remix of Gorilla Zoe\'s single "Twisted". In March 2011, it aired on Philadelphia\'s radio station Wired 96.5. This was digitally released on iTunes by Atlantic Records on May 23, 2011. He first received widespread recognition on August 29, 2011 when the remix of Kreayshawn\'s single "Gucci Gucci" exploded on YouTube and gained over 7 million views in under 12 hours. A week later, the video charted at #7 on YouTube\'s Top 100 Music Videos. Justin\'s style is noted by an announcer saying the "J Farell" tagline in most recent music and dance remixes. Justin "J Farell" Alamar grew up in Cherry Hill, New Jersey and was introduced to music at a very young age. He was greatly inspired by the works of Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder. As a child, he would play songs by ear on the piano. Years after, he also learned to play the viola and the guitar. He spun at parties, events, fraternity dances, and Rutgers basketball games. He then helped to facilitate hip-hop battles weekly on the campus radio station. It was during this time that Justin became intrigued by production. He began to produce instrumentals for New Jersey and Philadelphia-based rap artists. Justin graduated from the Rutgers University Honors College in 2005 with a degree in Fine Arts and began to fine-tune musical talent. He then studied audio compression and engineering in Logic Studio. He became influenced and intrigued by the musical works of Dr. Dre, Scott Storch, The Runners, J.R. Rotem, Timbaland, Just Blaze, Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, Drumma Boy, Sonny Digital, Diplo, and Cool & Dre. February 2011 delivered a new musical standard when he entered a contest for Asher Roth’s “Ash A Cappella 2011”. He released Asher’s song under the name “Frankenstein” and rapidly became a contender for 1st place. J came in 2nd to the Blended Babies, but his rendition of the song, now entitled “More Cowbell”, continued to gather up YouTube views in the tens of thousands. In May of 2011, J Farell landed a placement with Block/eOne/Atlantic and produced an official remix of the smash hit "Twisted" for Gorilla Zoe featuring Lil Jon. This was digitally released on iTunes by Atlantic Records on May 23, 2011. In August of 2011, his commercial pop trap remix of Kreayshawn\'s single "Gucci Gucci" went viral on YouTube racking up over 7 million views in under 12 hours. A week later, the video charted at #7 on YouTube’s Top 100 Music Videos. This is widely known as the radio alternative to the original song. In October of 2011, Justin Farell landed a placement with Sony/Roc Nation/Columbia for his remix and club EDM electronic dance mixes of J. Cole\'s "Work Out". This remix was released as the rhythmic alternative version and was instrumental in spreading the single’s popularity to broader audiences. As of January 11, 2012, “Work Out” has been certified platinum by the RIAA. 2012 brought new-found opportunities for J Farell. His club remixes, EDM, and electronic dance EDM hip hop mixes were some of the most sought-after by over 13,000 major FM radio stations. In August, he began to work together with eOne Entertainment and placed the official remix for Driicky Graham\'s "Snapbacks and Tattoos". J Farell’s club remixes and EDM electronic dance have been played in rotation on many hip hop mixes radio stations across North America. He remixes and EDM electronic dance for popular artists like Kat DeLuna, Tinie Tempah, Gotye, Drake, Roscoe Dash, Hyper Crush, and more. Currently, J Farell is spending his time working with labels on remixes, electronic dance tracks, and producing songs and EDM electronic dance mixes for a new generation.
