more interesting stories if you ask me

I'm sure, on some level, this boils down to me being a bigger fan of Spike and Dru than Darla and Angel/Angelus, but it's also based on their relationship. In Darla and Angelus I get the vibe that they both care very strongly for eachother but I don't get the love vibe. I get more of the lust and attraction vibe but not that all encompassing love for one another. Don't get me wrong, I believe that they have an intense desire for eachother and they are the main points in eachother's worlds but when I compare it to Spike and Dru I come out with the latter on top.

In the Spike and Dru relationship I believe that Dru loves that Spike wants to be loved, that he loves her completely, but she isn't in love with him, if you get my meaning. Dru loves being wanted and needed and I believe her heart will always be torn in multiple directions - Angelus, Spike, the stars even hold a part of her. Dru goes back to Spike becuase she wants her family back together, not becuase she wants Spike - Dru loves being part of something.

Spike, on the other hand, is completely in love with Dru. She saves him, she accepts him and he falls madly in love with her. He shapes himself to fit her wants and needs. Spike is love's bitch and he will do anything and everything for Dru.

I prefer a couple where, to atleast one member, the other is their world. It's sappy and sad, heartbreaking and fantastic, but I love it. Darla and Angleus are deeply in like with eachother and on even footing, Dru latches onto Spike, but Spike loves Dru fully and completely and I love that.
