I've a few problems with how Neal was written - the writing not acknowledging that Emma could have still broken the Curse without him framing her and abandoning her, and the way his relationship with Tamara was treated in general - but I mostly like his character.

I don't ship him with Emma. I theoretically/lightly ship him with another character (maybe Tink, maybe someone new who was never introduced, obviously not Tamara) since there's no other canon ship for him. That's more of a general wish for him to be happy than anything else though.

I mostly wish he'd survived longer for Henry's sake, for Henry to have had his father in his life. I understand that they had to kill someone off to revive Rumplestilskin though, and I wouldn't trade Neal for his father. I'd have been interested in a darker storyline where Neal sacrificed someone else for Rumplestilskin, either knowingly or accidentally - maybe something like the last person he touched or the next person he touches dies?
