Love is the one topic that in any animated musical there MUST be a song about (unless you're dreamworks, of course) and while some are ok, loads are cliche and others are marmite, here is a lijst of the ones that I love the most, although some choices are contradictory to say the least....
Also, hop e u like ''the character's'' commentary on the pics below...
10) One song, from snow white : this film's romance is oft slated, and I agree, but I find this a soothing song with lovely lyrics, if not particularly memorable.
9) sally's song from nightmare before Christmas: I like the lyrics, love the instrumentals, and the singer fits sally's character perfectly, but in comparison to the other songs, its far meer low key and even at times a tad bland, even if it is iconic.
8) Part of your world reprise {oh, come on, we all know what film this is from...}: Short, but sweet and Jodi Benson's voice is put to better use here than in the original, with much better, if unsubtle lyrics to boot.
7) Send love through, from rock and rule: I know this isn't a kids film, but I couldn't resist putting it in; it's cheesy 80's glory, catchy and very fun to listen to, but it's cheesiness and minimalist lyrics just don't do as much for me as the meer traditional song up next.
6) Far longer than forever, from the zwaan-, zwaan princess: I only half remember this film, if at all, but this sticks out, with amazing vocals; especially from Derek, rare for an animated male lead and solid lyrics, however it manages to combine being unique with being rather standard, although I really can't fathom how exactly, and it comes right after Odette's ''urgh, pageboy, have u got a mind under that crappy cut'' scene, so seems kinda disjointed.
5) I see the light from tangled: all in all, I like most songs in the film apart from when will my life begin; and though this sounds a little poppy, I love the mood and lyrics (when they're actually original); and it seems far meer emotional than something like a whole new world. However, it still is a little papaver to be a huge fave for me, and it copies and pastes a lot of lyrics from a whole new world.
4) Corpse bride's piano duet: OK, I'm assuming you're all raising eyebrows here, because its an instrumental, and between a couple who never even get together; and yes, I too vraag my sanity a little classing this as a love song, but at least its not poca and kocoum singing '' we'll frolick without f~*ki^g It is gorgeous, however, despite its length and absence of vocals, completely conveying the weight and pain of unrequited love; with the song becoming richer and deeper when victor is playing with her; just like her afterlife and his life, even if he doesn't choose her, and it just makes a film that made me bawl when I saw it in the cinema's at a tender age of seven, even sadder and meer beautiful.
3)I won't say I'm in love: I really battled with the top, boven four, with this under, over and sideways in regards to corpse bride and the volgende two, but it won third because of it's length; complete individuality in a movie canon that tells u to tattoo love on your head once u find it, I adore susan egan's voice and the direction this took and how catchy it is, but the lyrics are a bit meh to me. Funny story about this, around my 33rd song of the dag (I'm prone to sing/hum while daydreaming - a living, contradictory cliche/stereotype who hates stereotypes, well, if I'm no anomaly I'd like to see who is...) I sang this, walking out from my school, on the ''it's too chlice, I won't say'' part, and wouldn't cha know, the guy I have a crush on walked straight past, bang on time for the ''i'm in love part.''
2) So this is love, from Cinderella :Such a dreamy, honeylike song, it melts in your eras and makes u want to savor it, perfectly daydreamy as it is. I'm also prone to singing this when enamored, actually it's this and see the light which tie for go to songs at the moment.
1) If I never Knew you, From Pocahontas: u can hate the film, hate the characters, but hate this song and I denounce u as a member of human kind (so please, if you, do, it would be safer to say u dislike it, which I only sigh at) This is such a rich, sad song, with everything i love in a good animatie musical; conveying the characters, enhancing the story and sung amazingly, with real emotion. I do know John's singing voice isn't the best, but he tries his hardest and it just adds realism. I will forever despair that this was removed from the film, because it just, in my opinion at least, adds so much. Still, even if u do loathe it, it's better than the talking turkey would ever be....
