Despite the fact that I absolutely LOVE this movie, it's technically not a good film, but I don't think it's bad either. It does have a lot of things that aren't explained and is kind of clunky, the comic relief isn't too memorable, the couple is very bland, the songs don't transition very well, the villain is very generic, and Kayley's badassery is really downplayed to the point where people think she's a damsel in distress (which I don't think). Garrett is interesting on paper but isn't executed very well. Kayley, while I ADORE her, is kind of your standard spunky tomboy heroine. However, the animation is really pretty, the main character (despite her flaws) is really likable (in my opinion), the sidekicks (while unmemorable) are pretty enjoyable, the songs are phenomenal, and it's a pretty fun adventure. I do like the idea more than the execution, but I still love it.

I loved it when I was a kid, but now that I'm older I've started noticing way more flaws with it.

I also read up on what the filmmakers originally intended for this movie before heavy executive meddling from Warner Brothers, and it makes me wanna bang my head against a desk.

It has some problems but it's great. It is enjoyable to me.

While I agree with some of the criticism, (it's predictable, formulaic, has average animation, etc.) I still think this movie is magnificent.
In my opinion, the soundtrack is flawless.
