I HATED Shadow Souls. Sorry to say so, but it was the most horrible book ever written. Damon was VERY out of character and so was the whole Damon/Elena relationship int hat book. What I got in Shadow Souls was NOT my Damon or my kind of DE that I love so much.

I will pretend that Shadow Souls doesnt exist and I will not read the last book. My DE will only be in the show and in my head and in good Fanfiction.

The Struggle was the best DE book. :)

shankii: Shadow Souls made Damon EXACTLY like Stefan. His way of acting and talking is just unlike himslef (Damon) and Elena is just a dumb idiot who messes around with Damon but then still "Loving" Stefan anyway. The whole story feels WAY over-thought and just not believable. All the character, ESPECIALLY Damon is out of character. Everything in the book is cheesy. It makes me want to burn the book.

Sorry I sound mean right now, but I am VERY upset about LJ Smith ruining Dmaon's funny, witty, interesting character from the earlier books.

ignore MissDK!! shankii if u want 2 read the books or just shadow souls u should!!!! i love Damon!!! and shadow souls is NOT cheesy!!!! and Damon was "out of character" cuz he was in love with Elena!!!! and there were ALOT of Delena in Shadow souls!!!! he wasn't out of character he was acting very sweet and charming!!!!! xoxo

LOL! It's hard to judge but I still liked Shadow Souls. I think that he does act a little unlike himself but i didnt care (It's DAMON!!). I think that it is a little bit unbelievabele (I don't know how they're gonna translate some of that in real life show).
I loved the Delena parts and even though they it didn't sound a litle like Damon. It's The Delena parts that count! :)

Oh well, then I must disagree with you all. How can you ignore the fact that Damon is unlike himself and still love it? The Delena parts in it were hardly interesting enough because Elena and Damon are not really themselves anymore and it ruined the whole Damon/Elena relationship. Damon was exactly like Stefan.

Shankii, of course you should read it and make your own opinion about it.
For me, it is not about how MUCH Delena we get. It's about the QUALITY of it, and I thought it was really bad because Damon and Elena were not their usual firey, passionate selves. They were just lovey-dovey all the way.

Dont misunderstand me, I LOVE it when Damon is soft and sweet with Elena, but the way he did it in Shadow Souls was over the top, so much over the top that I could not recognize him longer. The Damon in Shadow Souls is NOT Damon. Not MY Damon anyway. And if all of you are satisfied with a Delena ending when Damon is not himself, then congrats to you, but this is not what I want.

And Shankii, I think Stefan and Elena end up together in the last book. The endning in Shadow Souls made it clear that Elena loves Stefan more than she will ever love Damon even though she does love Damon. She just never admits it.

All I am saying is that Shadow Souls was a mess. You can agree or disagree with me..

I agree with both of u (MissDK and merzycullen.) I just see it both ways. I agree that Damon doeant sound like himself (he's not that dangerious and stuff) which i find annoying too. But i still like the bits with delena, even though he was more like stefan (WHICH I HATE STEFAN).

But I agree with merzycullen, he is a lot more sweeter and nice because he DOES luv elena.

I did enjoy the book, and i do agree with u in some wasys.. and i am fustrated in other ways for his personality.

But he is still DAMON!! and I would love damon anyways, no matter what he acts like! :)

That is your opinion and I respect it even though I disagree with it. I love Damon and will always love Damon, but the REAL Damon. Not the Stefan-ized Damon. Never. I loved Damon for everything he was, and not because I wanted him to change and be like THIS.
Of course Damon had to change for Elena's love, but he still needs to be himself, which LJ Smith ruined. I mean what is the point of Damon and Delena when they're not what they used to be when I loved them? Where is the fire, passion, wit and fun? It's gone.

I loved the things Damon did for Elena and all the sweetness his love for her made him do. But on the other hand, he took MUCH MORE shit from Elena and her friends than he should have. He was like a ring in Elena's hand, which he should never be. That is Stefan's place.
