Daria is so much more compatible with Tom. Its obvious. Trent might have been Daria's first love/crush, but Tom was her second love and her first boyfriend. Besides, Trent doesn't see Daria like that.

That was funny I love how upchuck, Kevin and Brittany are thrown in there. And sorry guys don't agree with you at all about Tom being better for Daria. You see if you are too compatible you lose interest in that person very quickly. How compatible am I with my boyfriend ? I would say 0.01% yet have been going out for 8/9 years so that has to say something.

If Daria ever ended up with Trent it would've no doubt just been a hookup, which is fine in my books. In the long run she'd be better with Tom though, or on her own/with a different guy not listed.

There wasn't passion in Tom's relationship, they were almost too alike as well. With Trent he understood ppl like she did but he was just slightly different with his optimism. That and her passion and his kinda sorta passion would have worked great together--but the only way they would have worked was if he was not so much of a deadbeat and actually got somewhere with his music.

I never really thought Trent and Daria would have made a good couple. The whole school girl crush worked out great. Tom came across as really boring to me. Them breaking up in the end, again, worked out great. I just chose Upchuck because he's hilarious.

I like Trent better than Tom, but they wouldn't have worked as a couple. They had a whole episode explaining why not, right? Although, I was happy how it ended. With her with no one.

daria actually looks like she's better off with no one, but given the choice, i prefer trent. Besides folks, tom went out with jane before daria, and daria and jane almost ended their friendship due to their feelings for tom, which was sad and kinda stupid because they were my favorite characters. I like trent better anyways!

charmecia5 I completely agree with you! The whole Daria/Tom/Jane triangle thing annoyed the hell out of me and Tom wasn't even worth it. I can say Tom was ok with Jane (before he made her super boring, just as boring as him tbh) and they were a cute couple, because of how different they were and there was some kind of passion, but apparently Tom was too much of a coward and he went for Daria just because she was more like him and more suited his status (he even said "You are not like Jane" or something like that, he was so afraid of how his family reacts on a girlfriend like Jane and so he found Daria being a better choice). And same with Daria, actually. She went for the easier. During the whole show we could see Daria being in love with Trent and Tom came as a second choice. She lost a hope to be with Trent, she thought he is never gonna notice her and choose her as his girlfriend and then this Tom guy appeared and he showed some interest in her so she went for him. As much as Daria tried to pretend strong, she had weakness and law self esteem when it came to boys. Obviously the one she REALLY wanted to be with was Trent, but she thought she has no chance with him. Trent was a challenge and I'm sure if the writers had decided to explore their relationship more they would have become a cute couple and Trent could have changed for the better with her. I mean, come on, Daria was the only person who actually made him feel guilty for being irresponsible. She meant something to him and had sort of a connection with him.

Trent was cool, and he cared about Daria (thought perhaps not romantically.) Tom...well, he was a tool. I'm glad they eventually went their separate ways.
