I walked into the cemetery with a bouquet of flowers. I remembered the details as if it were a few days geleden even though it had been a year.

My ex boyfriend had been driving to tedeschis to get some sandwiches before picking me up to go to the park for a picnic. A driver driving an SUV had been drinking, swerved off the side of the road and hit him. He was rescued door paramedics only to arrive at the hospital and be announced officially dead. I remembered the tearful phone call from Jill who was our friend. I remembered the wake, the funeral and the burial. But most importantly I remember promising myself never to love again.

I laid the flowers on his grave. Today would have been our 2 jaar anniversary. I lost it right there and began bawling my eyes out. Suddenly I felt arms inpakken, wrap around me from behind and someone's chin on my shoulder. This person smelled of Marlboro lights and aftershave which smelled kinda nice.

I stopped crying and turned around expecting it to be a crazy person. My eyes widened at who it was. In the flesh it was me and my boyfriends idol, David Bowie. He was wearing a white button up shirt, green kaki and black shoes. His hair hung in his eyes but I could see his mismatched eyes looking at me with sympathy, sadness and.....love?

    "Y/N, I'm so sorry...."

"wait how do u know my name?"

"I was there I was the man in the dark suit with sunglasses at the funeral,"

    I thought for a minute.

    "that was you?"

"yes I knew your boyfriends father. He was a roadie for the serious moonlight tour before he retired. He's told me about him/her and I'm very sorry he passed away,"

    "how'd u know I was with him?"

" I could guess," David gave me a sad smile.

    "thank u for being there."

"no problem Y/N," and reached out to stroke my cheek.

A weird sensation started. My hart-, hart was fluttering, my stomach felt like it was full of butterflies and I didn't want him to stop.

I leaned into his touch a few minuten before he pulled away.

"Y/N, kom bij me for lunch, love?" asked David Bowie looking like he was desperately waiting for me to say yes.

"yeah I would, thank you," I zei smiling a bit meer now.

we made our way out of the cemetery, his arm around me giving me the will power to move.

We went into a cafe like place that was not too fancy but not too cheap looking. I had ordered a ham and Swiss belegd broodje, sandwich while David ordered an antipasto salad. We talked about our interests, our lives, his music....everything. I was getting meer and meer intrigued door this attractive handsome rockstar. He was aging but still very handsome and age is only a number. After we ate, I started to say thank u and head home pagina but David stopped me.
"wait Y/N do u want my number so maybe we can....talk?" He asked looking shy.

"I'd love that, thank u very much," I zei smiling I made a new contact and typed his number into my iPhone and he did the same with my number.

"See u around," I zei blushing.

"see u around y/n love," zei David blushing a bit too.

I went back home pagina feeling a little weightless but a little guilty that I was starting to fall in love with David Bowie.

the volgende dag david and me were walking in the park and just chatting about stuff in general.

"Ever since my boyfriend died I stopped believing in a life after death. Since there's no scientific proof that god and satan exist why should we believe what a book not even written in Jesus' time says. If there were an afterlife the dead would have come back to us to visit. They would have told what it's like to die,"

"I agree y/n, I believe in the same idea,"

David looked at me as if I were the only person at the park.

"what?" I started to feel the fluttering in my chest again.

"nothing love, you're just so beautiful, so young and despite u being so young I feel as if we were made for each other," whispered David.

"I feel the same way too, David," I whispered back.

David leaned in and kissed me passionately. I had promised never to love again but that promise became broken as I let his tongue enter my mouth. I kissed back and he held me closer to him and put his arms around my waist.

We broke the kiss panting slightly.

"I love you, y/n. Please be mine forever," zei David's voice filled with love and desire.

"I love u too David," I zei feeling the heavy weight that had formed when my ex boyfriend died fall to the ground as I zei those words.

David pulled me into a loving embrace. He was the love of my life now and most importantly my hero.

“There Is A Happy Land;” Is the youthful observances of the fleeting nature of happiness within our lifetimes, and the idea of a metaphysical place which children can retreat to when they’re feeling lonely. Reminiscent of “Castle on A Cloud” from Les Miserable in its concepts, it is seemingly told from a child’s point of view. It is stated that “Adults aren’t allowed there [in the ‘Happy Land’]” Which comes back to the idea of youthful innocence, and its ability derived from need to escape the dismal surroundings for somewhere nice. Perhaps adults simply cannot find the...

“The Laughing Gnome;” Has an eccentric charm about it, despite the dad-joke-esque character of the gnome jokes which it’s riddled with. The magic of “The Laughing Gnome” is actually in its absurdity. The sped-up voice of the gnome and the pointlessness so effortlessly encapsulated in this song gives it a wealth of appeal not only to the very young but to all those with a ripe sense of humour. The humour is not actually in the element of humour which the song provides through the gnome medium, but through the notion of implementing this technique - of speeding up sound- not to further...

A “Rubber Band;” indeed this song is. With a rounded, slightly mournful tone, the song tells the tale of a man’s frequency of visiting the park with his girl, where they listen to an out-of-tune band until the man goes off to fight in the war. The climax of the song describes the man’s anguish when he returns to find his girl “married to the leader of that band.” This dismal ending is forewarned door the doleful nature of the beginning of the song, which seemingly has no cause for woe.
The song has a pleasing turn of phrase and a rolling, curvaceous undertone to the backing track....
