It bothers me to no end when people pretend to be a victim of a crime that never happened. It does so much more harm than good. What if one day I'm a real victim of a real hate crime because of my beliefs, race, sexuality, etc.? There would be a reason for people to doubt me before anything is done because so many hate crime hoaxes have been popping up all over the place. I wish people that think about doing that kind of thing stop and think of how it's going to affect others.

Fake ones take away from the real thing! If you keep crying wolf no ones going to believe it when it's real. This is why I hate fake news and self diagnosing. Fake hate crimes allay make mockery of the real ones. No, not even almost, it does. And fake hate crimes make it harder for the real victims to get justice.
