This and Aladdin are highly overrated. They're both good movies, just not as good as people say...

Don't get me started about this movie

I personally think this movie is the weakest out of the "Fearsome Foursome" because it has many inconsistencies and plot holes in it's story. People say that this is the BEST Disney film (which I do not understand), and there are more consistent films that are better and don't get enough credit. I do not know if would put it in the top 10

Sorry who voted TPatF? That is by far underrated.

I like Tangled, but I think it gets undeserving credit for apparently doing things that previous Disney/DP movies have never done before. People raved about Rapunzel and Flynn taking time to fall in love (though it's been done since "The Little Mermaid" and not just in Disney), Rapunzel was praised for being a spunky and independent Princess (don't even get me started), and I heard people saying it was the first Disney film to represent an abusive parent/child relationship, but Hunchback of Notre Dame did just that, and I feel did it better, and in a more empowering and inspirational way.

I'm sorry. I do not know how Pocahontas is overrated. It is generally called the weakest Disney Princess movie, and it does not have a big fanbase. Even PATF and Brave have bigger fans and a bigger consensus.

Pocahontas??? The Princes and the Frog?? No.
Beauty and the Beast is a good movie. I think it's an "average" Disney movie, though. Not exactly on my top 10.
Tangled and The Little Mermaid, and maybe Aladdin are also overrated.

Anyway, this and the little mermaid are highly overrated. They are nice movies but not very professional and I think Aladdin is too humorous and it turns in becomes unnecessary. Not to mention, their just isn't anything that special about the movie even though I still really like it.

I think BATB,Aladdin,TLM and Tangled deserve the attention they have.

I'm surprised Pocahontas is getting the most votes. At least Mulan and Brave have no votes right now.

I never got the huge deal about Mulan, it's funny sure but not that good, has boring songs and I dont really care about the characters...
I would add BATB, maybe Tangled though I LOVE IT!

I do understand why people call it not just the best Disney Princess film but the best Disney film in general. I do like what they did with the original story. I just personally didn't think it was that great when I was little. I didn't like that Belle's adventure took place inside instead of traveling on a journey (Maybe that's why Beauty and the Beast never got their TV show aired while The Little Mermaid and Aladdin did) The songs weren't that great in my opinion and of course I hated Beast when he was mean (though now I understand why Disney made him like that). And I didn't care for Belle, thought she was plain looking and a boring character, whereas now I love her and think she's the prettiest princess.

I find it strange that people said this movie brought back Disney magic (and I have seen this said)- I felt like I wasn't really watching a Disney movie. The leads are unoriginal, the songs aren't that great, it just didn't feel fresh to me. A lot of the humor was forced. I just don't think it's as incredible as it's made out to be.

Pocahontas is winning?!? It's one of the most underrated movies here and in general! Anyways I really like Beauty and the Beast, but I don't see what makes it so special. A lot of people are obsessed with it and I just don't see what makes it the best Disney film. My next choice would probably be Aladdin.

There's nothing that special about this movie. It doesn't really have breath-taking animation, and while the characters are likable, most of them are quite bland and lack development. The only reason people like it, is because the main heroine is a mermaid, and the prince is hot.

I think that The little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Tangled get the attention they deserve...just because they are popular doesn't mean that they don't deserve the popularity.
Aladdin on the other hand is a good movie, but gets always treated like a great movie, when it's actually more on the mediocre side imho.
Also Princess and the Frog...and yes, I know, it's one of the most unpopular movies. But I noticed a pattern to defend this movie more than it actually deserves (I have an idea why, but that's a topic for an upcoming article of mine).

This movie is not that great, but its fans OVERRATE this movie which makes all about Rapunzel and Tangled worse than the fact. XP

With all the other really popular ones, I can at least see why they are popular... but Aladdin, I think it's one of the most overrated Disney movies. Yes, A Whole New World is a good and magical song, but that doesn't mean the whole movie is amazing. I don't even find the story that touching, and while the Genie can be funny, he just takes over the whole thing. The only reason I can think of as to why it's so popular is because it isn't targeted to just girls.

Sorry about the rant, but I have never understood the big deal about this movie.

I can get the hype for all of them but as far as movies go, I think Tangled is the most overrated because it feels a little forced. Though, if it would've asked for the Princess, that would be different... Rapunzel's my second favorite Princess.

How can Tangled overrated? I think TLM and BATB are way more overrated than it, but doesn't matter for me as I love both.

Tangled copies the Dreamworks formula and it's just not particularly groundbreaking in spite of the love it gets for being one of the better DP movies. It still follows a lot of the Disney cliches people hate, but doesn't get criticism for them like the other movies do for some reason. I do get why people love it, though. I was enamored with it for awhile too when I first saw it.

SWATSD- groundbreaking for animation. not without its flaws but truly wonderful for the time it was made in. Maybe a little dated, but it's aged better than, say, Dumbo or Peter Pan.
Cinderella- like it and love the lead, but I definitely wouldn't call it a masterpiece. lots of filler like SW but nothing really to make up for it, although the animation is more consistent and it financially saved Disney. It's a little overhyped.
SB- underrated, stunning animation that looks at least as good as TLM which was made 30 years later, unique OST, unique female leads in the form of old ladies with a rare female villain that isn't just jealous/has a personal grudge against the heroine
BATB- I think people overhype it a bit but mostly it's earned the love.
TLM- same. and it gets props for bringing Disney out of the Dark Age
Aladdin- I adore it but it's pretty dated in many ways, I get why some aren't into it anymore
Pocahontas- was never super popular in spite of the beautiful music and animation. Too problematic to ever be truly popular, I guess.
Mulan- kind of overrated, was good for the 90s but as UN has said, the jokes are... not great
PATF- the last Disney movie to feel really ~Disney but unique in many ways. I think the fandom overhypes it a bit but it deserves love for the ways it tried to stand out.
Tangled- set the standard for Revival Disney and not necessarily in good ways. Unmemorable soundtrack and heroes, villain is likable but confusing background/motivations, emotionally manipulative and hyporitical morals. Annoyingly distracting dialogue ("It's, like, 7:15!".) Obviously and carefully created to sell merchandise. Technically well made in terms of plot and animation though, and has some genuinely emotionally profound moments.
Brave- Unique in nearly every way. Flawed plot, but good attempt at doing something different. Underrated.

While they're not here...

Frozen- Improved some of the things Tangled was bad about, but poorly executed plot, has a couple filler songs, overrated Oscar bait song with questionable moral to it, villain was badly done, romance needed worked on, movie gave one sister too much drama and the other too much comedy when both deserved their trauma examined and depicted fairly. Still, beautiful setting, some very good music and acting, flawed leads who are actually portrayed as flawed. *looks at Tangled*
Moana- Did everything right that Frozen and Tangled got wrong in terms of music or plot or character motives. Wonderful setting and folklore. Too bad that unlike Frozen and Tangled, it feels emotionally hollow or downright soulless.

It deserves props for setting the standard for further movies but the animation and music aren't that beautiful. Also Cinderella, BatB and Mulan.
