There was a three way tie for round one, so we need to do a tiebreaker before moving on to the next round. I was going to pick using whoever got the most votes, but John Smith rigging makes it impossible.

I’m counting comments only, not votes, so make sure to comment! I’ll include the best comments in the article when the countdown is over.

sarchasm picked The Beast:
People made good points about why they chose Flynn or Naveen, but my rationale for choosing the Beast was that, even if he did change and his behaviour was portrayed as bad, abusiveness is way worse than larceny or womanizing.

And it is true that Beast and Naveen's vices were portrayed as things that needed to be changed before they could enter into committed relationships and have happy endings while Flynn is never really criticised by anyone in-universe for stealing, but he did have an indirect redemption arc in that he was pretty self-centered and greedy in the beginning (wanting nothing more than riches and a solitary island) but at the end was willing to sacrifice his life and says himself in the ending narration that he "stopped thieving and turned it all around".

There is no circumstance where being aggressive and hostile towards a woman is acceptable. Yeah Naveen is a flirt and spoiled but he never hurts anyone or shows signs of abuse.

It pains me to vote for him, but he really doesn't react to a bad situation well. At least with Naveen he was willing to make the best out of being a frog. The Beast just became extremely moody and made everyone's lives worse. I mean what about all the poor servants that where changed too? And of no fault of their own?

I like the redemption arc the Beast goes through, but that took nearly ten years to happen. Boys need better role models than that.

KataraLover picked Naveen:
He's rude, spoiled, selfish, never admits he makes a mistake, is an idiot, blames other people for his mistakes, and is just a terrible role model.

^ Exactly. I honestly can't believe people are comparing locking people up and terrorizing them to being a spoiled womanizer. I love both Beast and Naveen, but still.

DIAMELA picked The Beast:
my biggest problem with him is towards the end of the movie where he doesn't fight back to defend himself from Gaston. I know he lost all hope because of the curse...but also all his staff and they still fight back to defend their lives and this of him. Hope is something that should never being lost not matter how bad things are , giving up on life how he did at the end is not a good thing to teach imo

One of the reasons Beast is in my bottom placements is because he's driven by everything surrounding Belle and only gets motivation from that, hence the mood downroar after Belle left. At least Naveen's careless attitude towards life is healthier for the most part. And this is strictly opinion based but sleeping around isn't as bad as people make it out to be.

MaidofOrleans picked Naveen:
I understand what everyone is saying for the Beast, but I'm inclined to not vote for him because at the core of it he just has difficult anger issues that he needs to learn how to deal with. A lot of people, not just young boys, can relate to this, and seeing him learn how to channel his feelings in a more positive way (like snowball fights) makes him a pretty good role model in my book. He also does make some serious efforts to change pretty early on in the movie, such as the scene when he tries to invite Belle to eat dinner with him. It's obvious how hard it is for him, but at least he's trying. He had no guidance for the majority of his life, so it's obvious why he behaves the way he does. Naveen on the other hand had all kinds of people telling him he needs to clean up his act, to the extent that his parents cut him off, and yet he STILL doesn't get the message. He's horribly lazy and mooches off of everyone else. I don't care that he's a womanizer or flirtatious, I just don't like how he expects everyone else to do all his work for him. He is by far the worst role model of all the Disney princes in my opinion.

wavesurf picked Naveen:
What MaidofOrleans said. Beast wasn't raised really well ( and we never even see his parents in the movie AT ALL), whereas, Naveen's parents are present, and seek to "wake him up, by cutting him loose," and Naveen doesn't even bother trying to do anything for himself, even after he becomes flat broke. Also, the womanizing thing is irritating.

It's true, his laziness is a deal breaker, not to mention how spoiled he was. I guess I'm biased because I'm lazy and I can relate to Naveen more and I'm guessing a lot of other people can too. By that I mean we all have our lazy days where we feel incompetent and useless. I still stand by what I said altho admitedly I can't judge Beast's act when I don't "get him".

KataraLover picked Naveen:
I think Beast is meant to be a role model for people who are more dysfunctional, like addicts and people with anger issues. Not an ideal role model but that doesn't make him a bad role model. Naveen is not a good role model for anyone, especially since he's a gold digger that was only going to marry Lottie for her money but still was flirting with as many women as he could, despite the fact that he knew he was going to try to get married to Lottie. Plus the way he treats Lawrence like crap to the point of his abuse making him turn evil. So Naveen is just as abusive as Beast is, since Lawrence himself said that he had been humiliated by Naveen for years. At least Beast makes an effort, unlike Naveen, and does have an emotional pain inside him that's not half assed.

sarchasm picked The Beast:
^ I agree with what you said about Beast, but the countdown is for best role model for young boys, not in general (I chose to limit it to young boys because the princesses are often looked at as role models for young girls, so I wanted to see how the Disney men held up in that regard), and I doubt that nearly as many young boys have addicts or anger issues as are spoiled and selfish.

KataraLover picked Naveen:
^ Don't be so sure about that. As a little boy I had anger issues (What am I saying? HAD? I still have them!) and little boys do tend to get into a lot of fight (though that doesn't apply to everyone).
