Her entire dream was to find true love, what better place than the ball? Maybe she didn't state it, but I don't think she would want to make a dress/cry/be so happy with her gown if she was just going to have fun. Anyways, it doesn't seem like Cindy to "just want to get out of the house".

she never actually stated on finding love just meaning her "dream" what that was

Um, when did Cindy ever say her goal was finding true love? She never says that once in the movie

I never said she said it. I said that's what she wanted to find, what you can assume from her actions.

Meh, from her actions I just always assumed she wanted vague happiness, not necessarily true love. Just to be free.

I assumed she wanted true love, from her dreamy dance in her room and the way she hugs her pillow.

Hmmm... This is a little vague. Of course one of the things she wanted in the ball was to MEET the prince (this is very clear in the scene she is trying to escape from Charming), but I don't actually feel she thought it was possible to dance/date/marry him. She was pretty happy to have known a guy that she didn't actually know about being a prince (sorry, bad english, brazilian thing).

I think she thought the ball sounded glamorous and exciting. It would have given her a chance to get out of her ratty clothes and feel important. I'm sure she dreamed about meeting the prince too but I don't think that was her main reason for wanting to go.

I don't believe that was her main goal; just a bonus. I think she wanted to go so she could feel like she was part of the family, and just wanted to be included and feel like an equal to her Stepmother and Stepsisters.
@ Animaluco...I always thought when she says " the Prince...I haven't met the Prince" she was just trying to leave without being rude to the guy she had been dancing with all night because the spell was going to end. That may not be why she said it, but that's how I always interpreted it.

What you said makes a lot of sense and maybe I'll change my pick. I wonder if Cinderella would be presented to the prince just like all girls of the kingdom were being. That could mean Cinderella was already sure she would meet him, so this definetively couldn't be considered a goal. The fact is that I'm 100% confused LOL

i think in the back of her mind she might of, and i think she wanted to meet him and thought it would be cool to see him but that wasn't her main goal. plus, she was shocked to learn that the guy she met was the prince

I think that misunderstanding is a little bit based on the dubbing in different coutries - in some versions of her song, she DOES sing about meeting or finding someone. But not in the english original version. There she only sings about better days to come. And no point before the ball does she talk about meeting someone, she just wants to have fun. And I always though that the part about meeting the prince was just an excuse - after all, she had no idea that she had danced with the prince all along.

^which I find silly, because they were brought right to the center of the dance floor where everyone watched and he was clearly the only male. But I guess she was just that sheltered.

She just wanted to go and have fun after working her butt off all the time. She never mentioned that love was her dream I think she just wanted to be free and have love. Not love as in romance but love as in feel like she belongs. She never mentioned love or being with the prince, she just wanted to have a good time. So basically in a modern version she just wanted to go to prom.

She needed day off at least once, and one day like this was all she needed to keep her going. She wouldn't complain after that, because she AT least got one day to herself. She enjoyed it. Plus, I don't believe she could start a relationship with her lifestyle. no time... Poor 'rellie.

You guys echoed my thoughts. Cinderella never got to go out and have fun because her stepfamily was always making her work all the time 24/7. She wants to for once, go to an event and have a good time. She wasn't like her stepsisters and the other girls who went there just to drool over the prince and flirt with him. Cinderella just wants to go a fun event and have fun for a while and feel part of the family. Think of it as a child wanting to go to a concert or a school dance after spending all her weekdays and weekends doing nothing but homework.
When she said she hasn't met the prince, she was just making an excuse to get away because the spell was about to end. She also didn't know that the guy she was dancing with was the prince.
