I don't know any of these stories.. I just chose this one b/c I'd like to see another East Asian princess. But, then again, the majority of the dps already have black hair... we could use another blonde. Maybe she could be a blonde Asian dp ^_^

I chose these stories because I am tired of Disney movies always circling around the Grimm tales or Christian Anderson. I want Disney movies to branch out some like they did with Mulan. If we are Americans lets not be so closed as my teacher once said, "Europe is not the only continent synonymous with great literature"

id lik an asian princess cuz i think mulan is a wonderful character but she is NOT a princess! she did not marry a prince she married a general besides if she wanted 2 b a princess she would hafta marry the emperor and thats just gross. and im half japanese so i think a japanese princess would be great!

Okay - I read all the fairy tales, with the exception of the Korean one, which I couldn't find (just the book about it). From those I can judge: None of them. Seriously, three of them are way to short make anything out of it, the Nigerian one is way to brutal, and they all lack any elements which let them make stand out.

good point, I always figured that Disney would work their magic in creating a wholesome age appropriate story. I mean look what they did to Snow White, remember how the Queen really died not exactly quick or painless plus they let Ariel stay alive in her movie.

Yes, but Snow White has enough other plot elements to focus on, mainly the dwarfes. The Nigerian one is about a pair of parents who imprisone their own daughter in order to keep them safe, a group of girls who are killing another girl, and a father who kills them out of revenge. There is nothing else to the story but brutality, while in Snow White there are a lot of elements of people helping other people. Yes, Disney could change those elements, but then there would be nothing recognizable left of the fairy tale. Just look at the fairy tales, Disney did so far: They all have a protagonist, an antagonist, and for fairy tales, they are fairly long. I think, Rapunzel is the shortest one they ever made a full length movie out, and this story has the unforgettable motive of the extralong hair.

Well, what is "Princess and the Beggar" about? If they made a book out of it, there should be more substance to the story.

Summary: the version I read was a girl doesn't want to marry the guy her dad her to marry cause she loves a peasant. Dad doesn't like it tell her to leave and marry him. Girl leaves marries the guy and later he becomes General to the army and excepted by the girls father

If they wanted to have a black princess they should have chosen a fairy tale from a place with black people instead of just shoe horning a europeian story to take place in America

i love this one! It sounds kind of brutal and I'm not sure if it would be fun or if little girls would like it. I like the princess and the beggar but it sounds too much like aladdin.

I love this story. Yes, it sounded brutal but I'm sure Disney would tone it down a bit.
I liked Of the Pretty Girl and the Seven Jealous Women but I agree with SwanPride, there aren't any elements in the story other than killing and revenge. Besides the idea of someone being jealous of someone's beauty sounded too much like Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.
I agree with starlight77, the Princess and the Beggar sounds too much like Aladdin.
The Parsley Queen is nice but too short to make a full-length feature out of it.
