Please, not Eugene and Rapunzel - I said it before, but they are the only ones who really get to know each other (in knowing each other secrets) before their romantic scene. And he dies for her, and she gives up her freedom for him. More commitment isn't possible.
And I strongly disagree about the "mindset of a five year old" thing. Rapunzel is very smart, and she doesn't take the frying pan with her because she is so trusting and believes that nothing can happen to her. She knows exactly what she does and what might happen to her outside - she just decides that fullfilling her dream is worth to risk it. And she does it on her own terms, with the necessarily leverage. You realize that she is the one who inicially outwits Flynn, right? If she has the mindset of a five year old, what is is Ariel (who arguable goes into Ursula's trap like a child who got offered a new toy by a stranger)? Three?
Flynn and Rapunzel knew each other's intentions from the beginning (he wanting the crown and her wanting to see the lanterns). They became friends and then it transformed in love. Most couples in real life start their relationships that way.
in my opinion she just doesn't seem ready for a relationship like that and their romance just seems rushed to me - and yes i know this is the case with many Disney couples, but these said couples are just so innocently sweet and have a certain charm about them (e.g. Aurora/Phillip) which isn't the case with Rapunzel/Flynn IMO. what i mean is they were rushed in the writers/producers point of view, not in terms of the story - it just felt like they HAD to be a couple simply because they were the male/female protagonists. Flynn's relationship with her is more like a big brother or a close friend without all the randomly thrown in romance.
"And since when is being friends and being in love two things which exclude each other?"
-when did i say it was? i understand that you can be the best of friends and still be romantically involved, but to me they suit better as JUST friends.
believe me it all sounds MUCH better in my head haha, find it hard to put things into words sometimes =P
And the argument that they "had" to be a couple - yes, they had to, they are BASED on a story with a romance. I understand the argument concerning Mulan and Shang (not agreeing, but understanding), but Flynn and Rapunzel were written from the very beginning to compliment each other.
