Chapter 11—Lady’s Lament

    The four parents took off through the park and continued to zoek for their puppies. Pongo and Perdita scanned the area, but couldn’t find any puppies whatsoever. “I don’t know where they could be,” Perdita stated worriedly. “Oh, if only I knew…”
    “Ah, that’s okay Perdy,” Tramp stated consolingly. “Why don’t we… look for them together?”
    Lady looked back, alarmed. “Tramp…” she stated, worriedly.
    “Oh, Pidge,” Tramp stated, confusedly. “What’s wrong? I only want to walk with Perdy alone…”
    “You know what’s wrong! We’ve been through this!” Lady cried out. “First Trixie…then Lulu… then Fifi… then Rosita Chiquita… then Peg… now me!”
    At once, Lady glared at Tramp, and quickly took off.
    “Pidge, come back!” Tramp cried. But Lady tore off from the others, disappearing from sight. She cried her way, and didn’t look at anyone as she disappeared behind many people, garbage cans, and trees.
    “We can’t find her in this mess,” Pongo stated.
    “Perdy, would u mind looking door yourself for a bit?” Pongo asked. “I want to have a chat with Tramp... a guy thing, if you’d understand.”
    Perdita nodded, and went off before Pongo asked, “So… what was Lady talking about?”
    “Well, okay, I’ll tell you. I have had a bad romantic past, dumping girlfriends. But she should know that I wouldn’t dump her… I mean, we had puppies!” Tramp cried. “Women… I just don’t understand them.”
    “So… u were a cad?” Pongo asked, surprised.
    “Yeah, yeah… but not anymore,” he answered.
    “So Scamp and Angel must have ran off because they thought u were not telling the truth… and Lady must have done the same…” Pongo told him.
    “You know, that must be right,” Tramp told Pongo.
    “So maybe u should do something to make Lady feel better…” Pongo told Tramp.
He cleared his throat insisted to Tramp “Look, if u really have feelings for her, u have to go and get her back. Get going!”
Tramp hurried through the massive amount of garbage cans and trees, but then he saw a poodle with a cocky grin and a roze bow in her hair walking door herself. “Miss… have u seen a small…”
“What? Am I supposed to be a servant to mongrels?” she stated nastily. “For your information, I am Georgette, a toon poodle earning ribbon after ribbon. I will blow all the competition away at this little place.”
“Okay, okay,” Tramp told her, smiling confidently. “I just wanted to know if you’ve seen a cocker spaniel, spaniël with a blue collar.”
“Get away!” Georgette squealed, as Tramp took off in the other direction.
Tramp then proceeded to find a fiery chihuahua with a headband. “Hey, have u seen a…”
“Back off! Don’t look down on me…” he delivered in a strong Mexican accent.
“Calm down, calm down,” Tramp told him. “I just wanted to know where a cocker with…”
“Oh her, her,” the chihuahua answered. “She’s gone somewhere over there,” he answered, indicating across a bridge.
Tramp seized a sudden idea. “Thanks, mister.”
“The name’s Ignacio Alonzo…!” the chihuahua began to say, but Tramp was not listening. He charged over the bridge. “Pidge! PIdge!” Tramp cried out.
And then, he finally heard a voice, saying, “Come to play with my hart-, hart again?” in a soft, sensitive cry.
Tramp peered through some trees, and saw Lady sadly huddled near a tree, looking at the ground glumly. “Aww Pidge… u don’t understand… “
“I understand a lot better than u might think!” Lady told Tramp firmly. “I know of your past… I know what u did to Peg, and I don’t blame Angel a bit for running away. I thought u were over it.”
“But Pidge, I…” Tramp continued.
“I saw u talking with that girl back there,” Lady told Tramp. “That toon poodle… she must look really pretty, doesn’t she?”
“Well yeah,” Tramp explained, but after seeing the look on Lady’s face, he added, “Well, she does… but I’m not interested in her… Not with her of Perdy…”
“I… I…” Lady paused, before saying, “What do u have to say for yourself?”
“Oh come on Pidge, I wasn’t flirting,” Tramp stated shortly.
    “I don’t believe you,” Lady whispered softly to Tramp. “Why should I? u have played with everyone else’s heart. I don’t want u to play with mine anymore, either.”
    “Oh Pidge, of course I’m serious with you!” Tramp stated quickly. “If I wasn’t, why would I be out to help find our children?”
    Lady didn’t say anything for a bit, but looked into Tramp’s eyes and told him, “You only want to get out. I should have seen this all along. u don’t care about me at all. All u care about is your old life. Why don’t u just kom bij up with Buster and then the two of u can have fun hurting as many others as u can…”
    “ Pidge, u know I’m not like that,” Tramp told Lady. “You know I wouldn’t do that.”
    “What do I really know about you?” Lady asked Tramp. “I don’t know that much, do I? How am I supposed to know what u would of would not do?”
    “Well Pidge, maybe you’ll have to see for yourself,” Tramp told her. “But we should probably return to searching for our puppies. Aren’t u out to help find them?”
    Lady blinked a couple of times, before saying slowly, looking at the ground, “You’re right… that is why I am out. Well, for Scamp and Angel’s sake, I will come back with you… you’re right, I suppose I should have been searching for my children. And the quicker we find them, the quicker I can return home pagina with them to Jim Dear and Darling. But don’t think that I’m done keeping my eye out on you,” Lady suspiciously told Tramp.
    Tramp smiled at Lady in a small little way, and then stated, “Come on Pidge… follow me. Pongo and Perdita are over there somewhere, and then we’ll all kom bij up and find them together.”
    Lady nodded, and she decided to follow Tramp, leaving the puddle of her tears behind her. While still not completely trusting Tramp, Lady felt a sense of fulfillment that at least she was taking action to find her kids once again.
