The stress of the war affects everyone, and it caused her to think that she had a responsibility to her family (she promised her dad that she would take care of them, and she took it seriously). She saw all of these awful things happening, and it caused her to lose faith in little things like childhood. She was told that she and her brother would be taken to the country (which means leaving her mother indanger), and she got angry.
