Dearheart You know...who says we can't love and cherish BOTH of them? I think it's ridiculous how people are acting like Matt has "replaced" David. In my opinion, [u]NONE of the Doctors - past or present - can ever truly replace each other.[/u] They are all unique and wonderful and have their own special qualities about them, and they ALL have places in our hearts. This is a bad analogy, but imagine if your husband died and you married a new man years later. Does that mean that your old husband has been replaced, or that he doesn't mean anything to you anymore? No, it simply means that you've moved on and that you're beginning a new chapter in your life. Likewise, this show - this brilliant, [i]fantastic[/i] show - has begun a new chapter with a new Doctor, new companion, new screwdriver, new [i]everything[/i]; and I think it's high time people stopped whining and accepted that. Yes, David was an amazing Doctor and yes, we miss him...but Matt has a lot to offer, too! Why let a great past Doctor ruin a potentially great present one? Let's just stop dwelling on it, sit back, and enjoy what we have now! GERONIMO!

marifrances I bet when Willaim Hartnell left ans Patrick Troughton took over, the same thing when opn then as mow, William's fans felt he was being replaced by Patrick. Brobably the same when Jon Pertwee stepped in after PT left then when Tom Baker then Peter Davison and so on. But, guess what, it just kept getting better! each actor put a bit of himself into the role and added more to ther character as the series went on. David and Matt are no different in this ans whoever comes after Matt when the time comes will be just as good. That's my opinion, BTW, Tom Baker and David Tennant were my favorite Doctors, though I like all of them for different reasons and Matt Smith is really growing on me.

musicfanaticXD I agree with Dearheart - I love them both. Both David Tennant and Matt Smith took the role of the doctor and made it their own. At first, though, I did find it hard to accept the sudden change. But as soon as Matt Smith said "I'm The Doctor, I'm worse than everyone's aunt" I was sold. David Tennant had to leave the role eventually, and there is no better person the play the new Doctor than Matt Smith. Both did/are doing the show proud in their own unique way, and I couldn't be happier with that.
