Why wasn't Alpha insane in the last episode?

In the whole series all he wanted to do was get to Echo and he apparently never did, so why isn't he insane ten years later? Also, did he have the special spinal fluids Echo/Caroline did to hold meer than one imprint?

My impression was that the good imprints took control as an inversion of Echo being good except for the serial killer imprint she has to keep in control. Don't know about the spinal fluids.

I can't exactly recall how they kind of explained it, but if u watch the season two special features, there's one where they all talk about the toon at a avondeten, diner tafel, tabel of something.
