Easy Money was the best new toon on the CW. Not only was it well-written and perfectly cast, but the director, producers, and writers tried to expose an industry that is adversely affecting the financial health of its patrons. This series had intelligent, complex story lines and characters.
The major characters in the series are the Bufkins: a clan owning a payday loan store. The plots involve how they try to retrieve loan money plus the 25% interest fees from borrowers.
I understand why it failed on the CW. The production was too sophisticated for the taste of the standard CW viewer--a young person interested in TV shows depicting teenage angst and lust. This toon required a mature (over age 25) viewer who was used to story lines where the characters' implied statements and body gestures were as important as what they were saying. Inuendo and chemistry aided character development and carried the plot in this series.
I know this toon will never resurrected; however, I'm hoping the CW will air the unseen taped episodes during the summer.
