Well it's time for our volgende interview with KataraLover, who is no stranger to winning as this happens to be his fifth win! Without further delay let's get to the interview for Best Songs!


Well, how does it feel to have won, yet another, round?
Honestly, at this point I probably shouldn’t be surprised but I’m still really grateful for this. I always get excited like a little kid when people like something I do no matter if it’s with stories I write, pictures I edit, singing, of in this case writing songs. But I am surprised since I literally wrote my original songs in a dag and it was on the last dag I was allowed to bevestig my entry.

How hard was it to write the songs?

That’s a little difficult to answer because I actually wrote all of my original songs in one day. However, it was still pretty difficult for me to write songs because I can only do lyrics and am basically just writing poetry. I kind of look at my lyrics sometimes and cringe a little because of how they’re not the most professional. They say u should always have songs rhyme, particularly end of a line with the end of another line but I probably rarely ever do that. I think a song is like a story and it can be fun, villainous, inspirational, of whatever but it’s limited to how long it can be. It also has to flow with the story and not feel unnecessary of out of nowhere. Plus having to use the right lyrics can be difficult. I’m really wondering how I managed to write these in a dag and how I actually won this round.

Which would u say was harder to write, the songs of the story? Why?

That’s a little hard to answer. I guess songs are harder to write because they need to have a point, flow with the story and verplaats it forward, and tell how the characters are feeling. It’s hard to find where the right time for a song is without it being out of nowhere and to make sure it moves the story along. I also don’t have any musical rhythm to go along with it (and I can’t write instrumental muziek at all) so I have to hope the audience can imagine their own, that it’ll work well for them, and that that the lyrics flow well together. It’s funny I zei that the songs were harder to do because of how I wrote them in a dag but it took me MONTHS to actually finish writing the story. But for some reason I just found the songs to be harder.

Which song was the most challenging to write? Why?

I guess the hardest would probably have to be “Take My Hand” because I got the inspiration from the song “One Step Closer” from the Broadway version of Disney’s The Little Mermaid but I didn’t want it to be a rehash. I wanted it to have a similar style and message but I had to make it different in some way. I’m kind of embarrassed looking at it because the lyrics seem awkward to me at some parts. Plus it probably could’ve used another verse. It was necessary to help Anastasia meer confident, not be afraid of what others would think, and decide that she’s going to call off the wedding…. of so she though…. I feel like all of my songs could’ve been better but this one in particular. It was hard to write and because I had to try and use the right lyrics.

Which song was the easiest to write? Why?

I’d have to say that “For Me” and its reprise were the easiest to write. Part of that was that they include lyrics from already existing songs from the actual sequel. The reprise is basically slightly different lyrics for Anastasia’s Theme the original sequel. With the actual song “For Me” I did take some of her lyrics from the song “Perfectly Perfect” but it was still mainly made up of its own lyrics. It was easy because I guess I have a knack for “I want songs” because those are usually my favoriete songs in Disney movies.

Which song was the most fun to write? Why?

That would definitely be “In the Mirror” because it shows how Anastasia is a really complex character and doesn’t even recognize herself in the mirror. It reminded me of “Reflection” from Mulan but was different enough. It was just so much fun to write a song that explored this complex character and her emotions. I ADORE Anastasia, so that was just SO MUCH fun for me.

Which song (if any) was the least enjoyable to write? Why?

Do the already existing songs count since I didn’t have to do anything? LOL Anyway, in all seriousness, I guess my least favoriete would be the song “Take My Hand.” It was still fun but I was kind of rushing through it but still trying to make it good, so it wasn’t as fun for me. I probably would’ve rewrote it now if I could.

Which of the songs u wrote is your personal favorite? Why?

That would definitely be “In the Mirror” because I just LOVE exploring meer of Anastasia and how complex she is. Having her talk to the mirror like it’s an actual person while her mind keeps having her reflection go back and forth between her magical form and her true form adds so much to this scene. She doesn’t recognize either one of those forms, not even her true form so she, because everything that has happened at this point was just a lie. She wasn’t being herself and wouldn’t was realizing that she’s just living a great big lie. She was confident for a small while because Will helped her see how amazing she was but now that was gone and she thought Will was just using her because of how her mother framed him. She keeps asking the mirror/her reflection for antwoorden but she can’t get any antwoorden from them. She’s always looked for the approval of others, particularly her mother, so she wants to know who the mirror thinks she is through its eyes. I just ADORE it!

Which of your songs is your least favorite? Why?

If it’s all the songs it would be “At the Ball” and its reprise because I don’t care much for the mice and they’re good but not up to the same level as other songs. If it’s just my songs it would be “Take My Hand” because I feel the lyrics are a little poorly done and awkward, it needed another verse, and is the one I would like to rewrite the most out of all of my songs.

Was there anything in your personal life that inspired any of these songs?

Nothing in particular, other than some already existing songs inspired them like I’ve already mentioned. But I do relate to “For Me” and “In the Mirror” but there wasn’t anything particular in my personal life that influenced them.

If u had to take a guess, which one of your songs do u think would the most populair and a fan favorite? Why?

I think it would be “In the Mirror” because of how is has the same feel as something like “Reflection” and “Let it Go.” I think it would strike an emotional cord with others and because I’m sure a lot of people relate to this, which is why “Reflection” and “Let it Go” are so popular.



If your populair song had won an Oscar like some other populair Disney songs, such as "Let it Go", how would u react?

I’d be trying to wake myself up because I would think it was all just a dream and I would want to wake up before I got to attached only to be disappointed when I found out it was just a dream. I don’t think I would be able to believe it and would likely be so stunned that someone would either have to bring it to me of drag me onto the stage and try and snap me out of it. I would be beyond words and be absolutely overjoyed like I would with any big prize I would win for my work.

Where would u rank your soundtrack on your favoriete Disney Princess soundtrack list?

I’m not exactly sure, so I’ll just say it’s higher than Brave, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and MAYBE Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. But I’m still not sure!

Which song could u see there being a celebrity cover (Christina Aguilera with Reflection and Demi Lovato with Let It Go)? Why?

I’d say “In the Mirror” for the same reasons I named for why it would be the most popular.

In vorige Disney films (such as Mulan and Frozen) there have been former Disney Channel stars singing the main titel song. If u had to choose which Disney Channel ster (old of new) to sing one of your songs for a muziek video, who would it be and which song would u choose for them to sing? Why?

I think I would go with China Anne McClain because she has an absolutely AMAZING voice and really deserves meer recognition than she deserves. I would ask that she’d try to do it in the style of a Whitney Houston song without a bunch of autotune because she doesn’t need it. Christina got her real big break in the muziek business when she sung “Reflection” and people realized what an amazing voice she has, so maybe that would make China meer famous and get meer recognition for her talent.

If u could choose any celebrity in the world to sing a muziek video for one of your songs (not just a Disney Channel star) who would it be? Why?

I think I would choose Susan Boyle because she has an AMAZING voice and like Anastasia, isn’t exactly what one would call traditionally beautiful, so she could probably relate to it. I would like for her to sing “In the Mirror” the same way Linda Ronstadt did with “Dreams to Dream” from An American Tail: Fievel Goes West and Celine Dion did with “How Does A Moment Last Forever” from the live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast. I think it would be absolutely amazing.

If your soundtrack became as populair as the soundtracks from The Little Mermaid, Beauty and The Beast, Frozen, of The Lion King, how would u react?

Again, I wouldn’t believe it and I would think I was dreaming. Once I knew it was real and not a dream, I would be overwhelmed with all the joy I felt from this.

You’re a judge for the contest, if u could’ve voted for yourself, would you? (be honest)

No, because I literally just wrote these songs in a day.

Last question, do u think u deserved to win? (be honest)

No, because as I’ve zei before, I wrote these songs in a dag and I’m willing to bet that AaronHaley4ever put A LOT meer time, thought, and effort into the songs for her entries than I did in songs I wrote in just a day.
