How do I win the 'Magic Counter' materia at the Choco Races?

I actually started playing this game when I was about 17 (I'm 28 now) and still have not finished it because I want to collect all the materia before I do so. I haven't played it in years but still have my PS1 for the sole reason that I will finish it at some point!

I can never get the 'Magic Counter' materia though, I know it's a prize at the Choco races but no matter how many times I bet on races of race I never win it.

My sources say that to get Magic Counter, u need to find it in the "Wintry forest" I have no idea what these means, but other sources say that u could find it in "Chocobo plaza." so maybe its not after u win the race autimatically, maybe u have to zoek around for it a little.

First of all tell princess to hit the road cuz she has no clue what u are talking about not even sure shes talking about the correct game. u can only get it at the golden saucer racing chocobos. After u win S-class so many times u get a prize pack...it has 6 of the best items they offer but not magic counter. After u win the prize pack it becomes eligible to win as a regular prize...but u still have to wait for it to pop up as a prize and have to hope if u do win the race that the numbers match the correct symbol too. Takes luck and perseverance to get this materia.
