I remember visiting this website once...
It was called [PHOTOS] ‘Friends’ On Netflix — top, boven 10 Worst Episodes To Skip | TVLine
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
Netflix is ringing in 2015 with a fresh batch of beloved shows — including all 10 seasons of
Binge-watching 236 (!) episodes can be a bit daunting, so we’ve helped weed out some of the comedy’s lackluster installments.
Friends Pilot Revisited 20 Years Later: The Hair! The Clothes! The Mistake?
In our gallery below, you’ll find 10 half-hours that you can skip during your
-a-thon — one from each season, to be exact. (Keeping in mind that while many of the series’ later episodes show signs of a creative slump, they are still central to the show’s plot, and therefore worth a watch.)
From Rachel’s brief stint as a cheerleader to Monica’s housework woes to Ross’ spray-tan-gone-wrong, we’ve compiled what
think are the series’ low points — so click through the gallery to see our picks, then hit the comments to share yours!
I call BS! You can’t call yourself a Friends fan and then write an article chronicling what you think are the show’s “worst” episodes.
Also, I dare you to find a fan who doesn’t consider Rachel’s cheerleader scenes, Monica’s loudness and Ross’s “Methane smells” flirting some of the most memorable moments of the show’s run.
They seriously named about 5 of my FAVORITE episodes. Skipable?!? I think not!!!
Thought they were some of the best episodes of the series. My least favorite were the Joey and Rachel hooking up. Looked as though they were completely out of ideas.
Have to agree with you. This “list” is absurd.
I’m writing from France where there is ALWAYS a channel to air this fabulous show! And I DO agree I NEVER skip any episode of Friends! they all are great. I “grew up” with them, since I was 25 when the show started, like the characters and I always cry for the series finale because it is always so sad leaving them even after more than 10 years… Great show ever! Vive Friends
Who came up with this list seriously lol, these are some of the funniest episodes. I kinda agree though that some of the plots within these episodes are terrible like the Emily arc, I agree with you there but the only reasons I tolerate the Emily scenes is because I know she loses every step of the way. I would not skip any of these episodes though.
I don’t usually stop and comment, but this is ridiculous. There is only one episode of Friends not to watch, it’s the one with Peter DeLuise where he and some douche chase Chandler and Ross off the couch at Central Perk. Horrible episode. All the others, and especially these mentioned for the most part are great.
Best episode, btw, is The One With All The Embryos. Go watch that.
Agree with you on best episode. Love the game they played about each other!
These episodes might not be the greatest to watch in terms of plot development, but they’re still really awesome anyway. They’re all worth watching!
No, don’t skip any! These are all hilarious. I vote watch every episode. Though I do agree that the Joey/Janine relationship was a ridiculous plot point.
This actually made me WANT to rewatch them all
Seriously minus the first two these are some very funny episodes of friends especially the Ross tan one don’t skip any of your watching it for the first time this coming from someone whose washed the whole show at least 10 times
The One With The Rumor with Brad Pitt cringeworthy given all that transpired after that episode.
See knowing what happens after makes that even funnier to me for some reason
Regarding the Joey/Rachel thing: I think the writers MAY have wanted to make the point that not all friends-to-romance progressions end up like Monica and Chandler’s. But what do I know?
I don’t know about anyone else but The One With the Fake Party is one of my fav episodes.I crack up at it everytime.Guess that is why we all have differing opinions.
That episode is the reason I started to really like Friends and the reasons why I had to comment. Do not skip that episode. It’s one of the best and Rachel Green at her funniest.
I love that one too! I’m totally embarrassed for Rachel but it was still funny. There are no bad episodes. There are some that are funnier than others but I could rewatch all multiple times
Wow this couldn’t BE any more inaccurate (see what I did there)
The fire alarm ep?! Ross’s fake tan?! “IM AN 8?!”
two of the BEST eps… You guys no longer get the authority to speak on anything FRIENDS related.
I agree with 7 out of 10. However the one that I would add is the one that made me realize that I no longer enjoyed Friends, The One With the Sharks. Monica thinks that Chandler likes shark porn? The story is beyond stupid. From that point on I hate-watched the rest of the show.
that’s why it was funny. Because it was ridiculous. But then I thought it was actually a rather lovely story; she loved him so much that she wanted to work to integrate a sexual preference he had; Monica wanted to support him.
I get why it was supposed to be funny. I still remember like it was yesterday watching the episode live and both my wife and I sitting on the couch groaning at how stupid we found the storyline. I guess that I just like my ridiculous based in reality. The Holiday Armadillo is still to this day one of the funniest things that I have ever seen due in large part to the fact that I could realistically see a parent doing that for their kids. But, a wife that would jump to the conclusion that her husband finds sharks sexually attractive and then is okay enough with it that she wants to include it into their sex life is so far beyond ridiculous that its just stupid. Now, if they would have done something where Monica thought that Chandler was a furry and she was okay with it I might have found that amusing because it would at least be plausible.
The One Where Ross Can’t Flirt has REALLY funny stuff with Joey’s grandmother. The bit where even she remembers the girl’s name but Ross doesn’t, and then when Joey says that’s him on the TV and she say “no, Sam Waterston”, and then Chandler’s line after that “she doesn’t know ‘Hello’ but she knows Capricorn One”. Those jokes make the episode worth watching.
There is not a “bad” episode of Friends in the whole bunch. This is silly, and just ONE person’s opinion.
Is this for real? TOW they re up all night is one of my favorite episodes ever. Phoebe vs the fire alarm its hilariuous.
The Ross spray tan slapstick was, to me, the oasis of hilarity in the midst of the ill-advised Rachel-Joey pairing during the first few episodes of the final season.
Even Friends worst episodes are better than most of what’s on TV today.
Agreed! Every episode of Friends is great. The only downside to the Netflix episodes is that every single episode is cut down to 22 minutes. I’ll just stick to watching the full versions on my DVDs.
I definitely agree with you about that, dude. I love It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Modern Family, but beyond that sometimes I feel like most of the other comedies currently on the air that I watch has at least one character that I just can’t stand most of the time, which can diminish my overall enjoyment of the show. For example, I can’t stand Frankie on The Middle and Sheldon on The Big Bang Theory most of the time. None of the characters on Friends ever annoyed me on a regular basis like Frankie and Sheldon constantly do.
I’M AN 8!!!!!! Ross in the tanning booth was hilarious- every time he went in! Am I remembering right that this is the episode when Rachel keeps hitting Joey when they are making out? As much as I HATED them together, Joey’s reaction to that was so funny!
Basically, don’t watch ANY episodes after Season 4.
Oh….my….God….(in my most spectacular Janice voice.). No way. These are some great episodes. If this is the worst of Friends it just proves its prowess as the ultimate quotable…
I love Friends, but I can’t stand any of the episides with Monica’s millionaire boyfriend, Pete. Those are the only ones I’d skip. The one where he wants to be a wrestler is unwatchable imo.
Even the one when she’s housesitting and takes them all over to his apartment when he calls? “And say hi to Rachel over by that ficus. Uh..Chandler’s on the couch…” In my opinion, there are no bad episodes. Some are not as funny as others but I agree with another poster that any episode is better than much of the comedies on TV today.
I admit there are weaker episodes but none deserves to be skipped (especially the alarm clock one, it’s hillarious) ! They remain much better than most shows, and moreover, even if it’s not 24 or lost or something, skipping episodes is always an insult to a show and the story it tries to tell (I’m especially referring to the whole jalousy thing, this episode is crucial for the story).
The fire alarm episode? Seriously? You gotta be kidding with that one Rebecca and Kimberly. That’s one o the funniest episodes from the show.
If you have time to rewatch old eps of FRIENDS, you need to re-evaluate your life. Seriously?
And what level of reevaluation do you think is necessary when you waste your time on troll comments like this? That’s rhetorical, in case you’re actually trying to come up with a number.
The apothecary episode is actually quite good. I don’t like the jealousy and the break episode.. those were awkward…
The idea of the brad pitt episode was good but brad pitt was the wrong person… very stiff…
Come on, Will. Take off your shirt and tell us.
I can’t believe that Phoebe was my least favourite character when i first started watching the show.
You could include pretty much every episode of the last few seasons in lists like these. Friends fell off a cliff around the time Monica married Chandler and IMO, it never found its way back.
I think when Monica and Chandler got married the show got better. The whole show was supposed to be about Rachel and Ross, but Monica and Chandler became the heart and soul of the show. I really enjoy watching them mature together and move into the other areas of being an adult. Gave the series a variety of new story paths to go.
Skipping episodes seems silly if you want to watch an entire series. Confession: I didn’t skip the Gilmore Girls episodes you told me to either.
As you can see TVLine, this article has made you many new enemies.
There are some fun episodes here listed. Instead of singling out an episode per season, you can find a lot of the duds in season 1, 7, 8, and 9.
Why would anyone binge watch 236 episodes and skip 10? Where’s the achievement in that?
It’s an achievement because you can then create crap click bait like this waste of space article.
I don’t see it on Netflix. That aside. If you’re going to watch 226 episodes can’t you just sit through the other 10 for completeness? And also if you do skip 10 you’re basing your viewing habits entirely on some random person.
Its definitely there. Canadian side, too, which I’m always worried about when they do their “what’s coming up” releases.
this is the worst article ever. i know it has been wrote just to incite comments but DAMN YOU. *shakes fist angrily*
I haven’t watched Friends all that much in recent years, but I definitely have to disagree with this list. They actually included some of my favorite episodes on this list. Now I’m wondering if I would agree with TVLine if they released a list of 10 “Must See” episodes since I don’t really agree with their selection of “bad” episodes.
There are no episodes of Friends that I can’t watch again and again. Some eps are better than others, but the great thing about pretty much all episodes of Friends is that usually at least one story in the episode is hysterical. I mean I wasn’t a huge fan of the Joey/Rachel thing either, but Ross getting a fake tan was hysterical and the ep is worth watching just for that. Same is true for pretty much all the eps on that list.
I disagree with most of these! I’ll give you seasons 3, 4 and especially 8 but those other ones are hysterical!
Oh come on most of these are great and funny the memorial service one is among their best.
Even a weak Friends episode is still better than a lot of the stuff the networks try to shove down our throats. The only episodes that I consider skipable would be the clip shows that started to turn up every season as the show progressed. Clip shows are annoying and always a waste of time.
Ross’s fake spray tan is right up there with the leather pants and “PIVOT” for me, how could you say to skip that one!!
I know, right? Just reading your comment made me laugh. “I’m an 8!!” So funny.
I loved the up-all-night episode! I was literally just thinking about it the other night when I couldn’t sleep. Also, the one with all the jealousy- that’s more awkward relationship stuff than a skipable episode. How did the Brad Pitt Thanksgiving episode not make the list? Even before their breakup I always found the premise of that entire episode contrived.
Um, this article is ridiculous. Watch them all, people!!!
The episode with the Ross and the spray tan is one of the best outings! I LMFAO every single time it airs! Joey opening Monica’s bra by just watching it! Hilarious!
No, no, no! The One Where They’re Up All Night is one of my favourites!! I laugh like crazy every time (and I’ve watched them all about a dozen times). “Oooh a quarter!”
*SPOILER ALERT* “Plus, since Phoebe and Mike ultimately get a happy ending, why make yourself sad by watching their low points?” Okay, so that’s like saying, since Ross and Rachel and Chandler and Monica get happy endings, why not skip this series altogether. That’s just horrible. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, and my opinion on this, as well as many others I assume, is that no episode is worth missing. Let people decide for themselves which episodes they, if they dare, skip. You never know; one of their favorites could very well be one of these episodes!
I actually like the Joey/Rachael relationship. Let’s be honest, both characters were vacuous morons, really just mirrors of each other. So it kind of worked.
Actually, it’s pretty much the reason why they never could or would have worked…
As a huge fan of a show that lasted my entire adolescence, annoyed by a list that’s just trying to be click-bait AND kick a show that never fell down despite people who clearly still try hard to hate on it, I’d rather note Friends best bits, in no particular order:
– Princess Consuela Banana Hammock marries Crap Bag
– Monica and Chandler propose to each other
– Chandler’s parents (explains everything about Chandler)
However, I will say that I completely agree with the sentiment that the writers should never have gone there with Rachel and Joey. It was nonsense.
Not sure why you need to choose to be negative on one of the best shows ever with very few if any bad episodes
Because an underrated show like Gilmore Girls gets a 10 best eps list from TVLine, but a show that was always massive but never overrated is clickbait if you go negative…
I’ll admit the first time around Ross’s character irritated me for much of the final seasons. However, that tanning episode a second time and more around is hilarious. I don’t really think you can skip Friends episodes and call yourself a fan.
No mention of Joey’s hand twin episode = list fail.
