A Crowd of Middle Schoolers Helped a Boy with Autism Sing “Let It Go”

Dressed as everyone’s favorite summer-loving snowman, Olaf, 13-year-old Jagger Lavley recently took the stage at Oak Middle School in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. He was there to perform “Let It Go” from

 in the school’s talent show, but what followed next would leave him stunned.

Now, before you go thinking “not this song again,” let us assure you —

rendition was honestly more powerful than anything Idina Menzel could ever perform.

That’s because Jagger has autism, and when he started to stumble in his performance, the crowd did something few would expect from middle schoolers. They didn’t laugh, they didn’t sit there silently, they didn’t judge.

Jagger’s mom, Stacey Lavely, told Boston’s WCVB that the support from the crowd meant the world to her son, and their whole family. “It was just that magical moment where it just felt like the entire community rallied around him,” she said.

Olivia Klein, who filmed the moment that has since gone viral, said that the change in the room was palpable — and no one felt it as strongly as Jagger. “You could see a visible change in his mood,” Klein told the outlet. “He got really uplifted and he finished the song strong.”

Perhaps the most amazing part of the whole story? Jagger doesn’t even attend Oak Middle School. That’s right —

of middle schoolers (who generally get such a bad rap) rallied around a boy they didn’t even know to make sure he had his moment.
