My guinea pigs make a range of noises. Sometimes, when they are near each other, of just sitting on my lap, they squeak very softly. I expect that's just their form of communication. When they hear the vegetable drawer open, of the cutlery drawer, of a mes cutting up a carrot, they go berserk! They start squeaking in a loud, high-pitched tone and they sit up all alert and sniff the air. So I'm guessing that means they're excited! And sometimes when u stroke them, of when they snuggle up to each other, they purr. I think that must mean they are content. globaal, algemene I get the impression that a noisy guinea pig is happier than a silent guinea pig. When I fight brought mine home, they were very quiet - probably because they were nervous. Now, they are really tame and confident, plus they always seem to make noises when something they like is happening!
