Harry Potter Vs. Twilight Vraag

Is this generation really this shallow?

I've been sorting through the fourms and antwoorden and it seems that all the T****** fans care about is how 'beautiful' vampires are, and that they want to be 'a beautiful vampire too!!!'.

Honestly? This is getting sad:

"OMG! i sooo wanna b a vampire cus u'd be totally beautiful!!1!" - A quote from a Twihard. *shudders*

Anyone reassure me that this generation isn't as shallow as it's being portrayed?

P.S: Team Potter all the way.

Harry Potter Vs. Twilight Antwoorden

Sadly, I do think that this generation is exceedingly shallow. Not everyone, of course, but a pretty good number. People now value looks and money over anything else. Even some of the biggest stars amongst teens are only famous for looks and/or money. People want to be pretty, they want to be cool, and that's all they think about.

However, I don't think we should stereotype ALL teens of today as shallow. There are quite a few teens who have a considerable amount of depth.

But yes, we are quite shallow. It's not just teens, either. Adults are shallow in their own way.

I'm not starting a whole big discussion here, but look at these politicians! For example, the Congress (or is it the Senate? I can't think now... too tired). They haven't been passing ANY of Obama's bills. Now, I am not saying they should pass everything, and I'm not saying they should admire Obama. However, they are keeping an exceedingly closed mind. To dismiss a good percentage of bills is one thing... but EVERY SINGLE ONE? That is really quite immature. I don't care if it was Obama of McCain as president; the Congress (or Senate) should NOT be so closed minded.

So, basically, the people of America are shallow. We have to value the ones who have depth, who can see through things, who vraag things, who keep an open mind. Those are the greatest and wisest people in my opinion. :)

It was always like this but Twilight has done it openly. The definition of beauty has always been up for interpretation. For me it's always been about the person, their personality, their aantal keer bekeken and ideas not their good looks. Believe me, I have been at the receiving end of a lot of jokes because I am not the typical great-looking of even good-looking girl.

I know a lot of people who are very pretty (in Twilight words, gorgeous) but they come across as being really nasty and guys just swoon over these girls. And then there are plain girls who everyone thinks are really great to be with but not pretty enough. Even guys who are 'Adonis' material turn out to be real jerks and the plain looking ones are the most fun to be with.

Mind you, I am not saying all good-looking people are shallow of nasty, it's just that this book has made Twi-tards believe only good-looking ones are the best and always deserve the best and eventually end up with the best.

Twilight is a really shallow book and thats the number 1 reason I detest it. If Edward had a personality I probably would have not hated it as much but the whole good-looking girls get good-looking guys is something that I don't believe.

Overall, a shallow book with shallow minded protagonists.

A pity, but it is, luckily, we aren't as shallow as most of our generation, 'every rule has an exception, especially this one' we can EXPAND OUR HORIZONS! We are the ones who must bring the Human race FOREWARD! LOL

It is extemely shallow sadly, meer and meer people are critisized door their looks not personality and too many gils are becoming obbsessed with looks.
The problem is lying in role models, now a days ..Twilight has had a major influence on most aslo as you've pointed out girls want to be 'A perfect vampire'
It is getting out of hand and I believe it will get worse, with the celebs getting surgery frequently ect..

Of course this generation's shallow!

They're making high-hells and a push up bra for 5yr olds now! It's just one massive cycle... and it doesn't stop at boeken either.
At least the shallow Twihard's can actually read! Just be thankful for that.

I think that the main reason why Harry Potter will always beat Twilight, is because u have to be of a certain interlectual level to read it. But wanting to be pretty as an aspiration for the future is just plain wrong.

All i have to say is that i know many people (not only my friends) who are HP fans have zei that they actually tried running through platforms 9 and 10 in King's kruis Station, that's dangerous... and people also say they want an owl to give them their letters to Hogwarts!!!

There are crazy fans of twilight and of harry potter as well...

This generation is shallow, that I have to agree with you.

What I don't agree is with the fact that Twilight has anything to do with it. Bella was infatuated with Edward's beauty, but she became obsessed with the fact that he, apparently, hated her. Then she fell in love with him, who he is on the inside, not his looks.
Ok, Bella may have mentioned alot of his looks in the beginning, but as the series goes on, u will find that she's truly loved him, for who he is.

Besides, u HP-lovers&Twilight-haters are such hypocrites. Harry's crush on Cho was because of her looks, not her personality. He may have started liking her because of who she was inside, but at first, when he barely spoke to her, he liked her because of her looks.
And the reason only Krum and Neville asked Hermione to the Yule Ball (Ron did but because he liked her) was because she wasn't particularly good-looking. And everyone're reaction at Hermione's looks in the Yule Ball?!

Besides, no one really says he/she wants to be a vampire because they're beautiful. Other people just use that commentaar to make fun of us.
