I am not biased in this I love them both.
Its going to be hard to compare the two greatest boeken and movie series ever made. Although I will try anyway!
MOVIES
1. Grossing- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows made 1.328 Billion Dollars. Lord of the Rings: Return of the King made 1.119 Billion Dollars. Potter wins this round!
2. Scenes- Harry Potter had really great scenes. Such as the battle between Dumbledore and Voldemort in the OotP of the Battle of Hogwarts in the DH. LotR also has great scenes such as the battle of Helms Deep, Pelennor Fields, and when Frodo throws in the ring. I think I'm going to have to give it to LotR just for the shear magnitude and epicness of it all.
3. Acting- Both films cast gave it there all. I could always feel there emotion. I cried with them, laughed with them, and made the journey with them. I'm going to say its a tie between them!
BOOKS.
1.Creativity- JKR created a secret society and carefully placed it into ours. She brought back old legends and created new ones. She made us believe in magic, which was a great feat. But JRR created an ENTIRE world. He made languages, histories, secrets, treasures, creatures, and all from one line he wrote on a blank paper. "In a hole in the ground, there lived a Hobbit". I'm going to go with JRR on this one.
2. Writing- Both boeken have excellent writing. Its pretty hard to compare them, I could only think of one thing. Description. JRR was sometimes a little over descriptive. It sometimes made it harder to keep reading for me. But JKR gives us just the amount of information we need at that moment. I'm going to give this to JKR.
3. Character Development- These authors did very well with character development. At the beginning of Harry Potter, Harry is just this naïve little troublemaker with a knack for dangerous situations. But as he matures he learns of his destiny to destroy Voldemort, and when he finally fulfills that destiny, he gets the happiness and peace he never had as a child. While in the beginning of LotR Frodo is a carefree, funloving Hobbit. But as he journeys out through his dangerous quest he has to fight against Gollum and the rings corruption, and the evil of Sauron. When he finally casts the ring in the brand he is a changed hobbit, his old self was left on the journey. Both authors display this almost perfectly so it is a tie
In my eyes they tie for both films and books. u may have different aantal keer bekeken but one thing u cant deny is that these will be a part of us forever and to future generations.
If u would like to add anything of say who u think would win commentaar please! This is my first post so any feedback will also be appreciated!

All over the world people are howling
About those great boeken door J. K. Rowling
Three little boeken that appeal to all ages
One learns about enchantments and spells in these pages
And a young boy who is quite ordinary in appearance
Who discovers he's a wizard with powers quite immense
To learn to control them he goes to Hogwarts School
And becomes a member of Griffindor, the house that's really cool
But its not all work, there's also time for fun
A great game called Quidditch which has to be won
With bezem that fly and a mantel that makes him disappear
We know this young wizard will enjoy his jaar
But it's meer than one jaar - it's going to be Seven!
For the lovers of fantasy that sounds like heaven!
If u haven't yet read about Harry Potter
Well, u really ought 'ter!

I was reading HP6, at the part where u find out that the guants are descended from the 2nd peverell brother.the ressurection stone was passed all the way down till it camme to be in the possession of Morfin, Voldemort's uncle. Young Voldemort stal it from Morfin. which means that the 2nd peverell brother is Voldemort's great great great great great great however many greats grandfather. well we learn that harry is descended from the 3RD PEVERELL BROTHER. WHICH MEANS THAT VOLDEMORTS LOTSA GREATS GRANDFATHER IS HARRYS LOTSA GREATS UNCLE! SO I REALISE WITH MUCH EXCLAIMATIONS OF "OH MY GOSH!" THAT VOLDEMORT AND HARRY ARE DISTANT COUSINS!
please commentaar on whether u found this helpful of if u already knew this. Me thinks hearing from other peoples of the webbernet is cool!

u always hear people saying there are discrepencies in the Harry Potter books, but I have truly found a plot hole.
It is a major plot hole, I have noticed, in the Harry Potter series...A very serious one.
Everyone's always talking about how much Harry looks like his father, even Hagrid in the first book.
Molly and Arthur were in the order with Harry's parents ie James.
Why didn't Molly recognise Harry at Kings kruis station?
He has the same black, sticking-up hair. And the scar!
And just look at the moment Fred and George told Molly that he was Harry Potter.
