Did "Save the cheerleader save the world" really mean nothing?

Cause think about it.Future Hiro went back to get Peter to prevent Sylar from absorbing Claire's ability. But hold up...that didn't save the world.Because Sylar wasn't the one to explode.Hiro thinks that because he wasn't there to see it.He believed Nathan when he zei that was how it went down.
So saving Claire really did nothing to save anything! He celebrates when he found out the bomb didn't happen but that wasn't because of him!
If anybody saved the world,it was Nathen!

I think it's because if Sylar got Claire's power he could have gotten abilities from the other people who have them and then would have destroyed the world cause he is power hungry and a killer and Nathan sacrificed himself because he felt bad that he was going to let Peter explode to "save the world"

In the original timeline, Sylar was the one who exploded not Peter. Because of Hiro's message Peter became the bomb.

It was originally Sylar. In the graphic novel which shows 5 years in the future from Hiro's point of view, u see him remembering Sylar exploding.

It was only in the seconde timeline (the one shown in 5 Years Gone) that Peter had really exploded but Nathan was lying to the world

It was cuz if Sylar killed Claire he would of been able to heal and Hiro wouldn't be able to of stabbed him and if he could heal that would make him a lot meer dangerous and stuff.

Here is the thing. Claire ends up giving birth to twins that have specific powers that literally keep the world from burning to smithereens door solar flares. So yeah, if Claire hadn't been saved, the world would have been destroyed years and years later. She literally is the reason why the world is saved

But that story line in the renewed series was no where near thought of when the line "save the cheerleader, save the world" was first used.
