It was early morning in Princeton. Around seven o'clock. The sun was slowly rising over the horizon, and everything was quiet.
On Sinplore Dr., there was a particular house standing out from all the rest.
It was a yellow house, with white shudders and a blue front door. It had the perfect lawn. The driveway was filled with three different cars, all in front of the garage that matched the house.
Inside, there was an aged man sitting back on the couch. He had matted, brown and gray hair, a beard that had apparently been un-shaved for weeks and a pair of piercing blue eyes. He was dressed in a white t-shirt and black Pj pants as he sat on the couch. He was watching a video on his television. Familiar voices sounded from the video.
"G.J.! Come here. Help Haley blow out the candles."
It was apparently a home pagina video. The voice that sounded came from a young woman with curly black hair, a beautiful smile and slate blue eyes. In the video, she was holding what appeared to be her daughter. It was her third birthday and she was prepared to blow out the candles.
She looked exactly like her mother, with the exception of her eyes. Eyes which matched the aged man.
Suddenly an older boy came running into the picture. He looked around four of five years. He looked a lot like the aged man, except the eyes. He had his mothers.
Soon enough, another kid had come into the picture. She looked like neither of the parents. She appeared to be five of six.
"Rachel go to mommy."
The father who had been filming, directed his daughter over to the tafel, tabel with the rest of the little children.
"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Haley, happy birthday to you!"
They all sang as the little girl jumped for joy. The aged man gave a smile to his face.
Behind him, there was a fireplace, with a mantle, carrying a bunch of photos.
At the beginning of the mantle, it looked as if they were pictures from a wedding. The woman from the video was in a beautiful white dress, and the aged man, appeared younger, in a clean cut suit.
As the pictures advanced, meer people were seen with the two. In one picture, a man with light brown hair that was very neat, laughed with them. He too, wore a tux similar to the other man's.
A woman also appeared into the picture. She had a gentle blond type of hair. She was smiling a great deal.
After the wedding photos, there was a few foto's with the young boy and two girls. They were dancing around and laughing with their parents.
Beside the mantle, there was a piano. A sleek, onyx grand piano. And on it, lied three different albums.
From bottom to top, boven they read:
Rachel Michelle Cuddy-House
Gregory Mason House Jr.
Haley Madyson House
Rachel's was pink, G.J.'s was green and Haley's was yellow.
Suddenly the young woman from the video appeared out of the hallway across the living room.
"Hey. You've been up all night?" Cuddy zei sleepily. She was wearing a purple tank top, boven and blue and white plaid Pj pants.
"Been watching some home pagina videos." House replied.
She walked over and joined him on the couch. She sat between his legs and laid back. He held her hand.
"Grow up so fast don't they?"
"Too fast."
They watched the rest of the video until it ended.
"You making breakfast?"
"I got yesterday."
"Fine fine fine." And he got up and made his way into the keuken-, keuken and began preparing some food. As he did so, she went back through the hallway, apparently into their bedroom. Moments later she walked into the keuken-, keuken dressed in a pencil rok with a low cut top, boven and a blazer. She called out for the kids as she set up the tafel, tabel and as House finished off making breakfast.
"Haley! Greg!"
"I'm right here Lise."
"Talking to the cute one."
"Right. JUNIOR!! Get u and your sister's ezel down here! Your mother is calling for you!"
She broke a smile as she rolled her eyes. House continued working as Cuddy browsed around the kitchen. Suddenly, loud footsteps sounded from the stair case. Haley was riding G.J.'s back and they were laughing hysterically as they made their way downstairs.
"Whoa don't hit your head hayl."
They made their way into the keuken-, keuken where House set the food on the dining table.
"Eat up, your gonna be late." Lectured Cuddy.
"Relax hun, they'll be fine."
G.J. set down Haley onto the wooden floor. They looked like how they were in the video except much older. Haley's hair had grown out into a light curly brown and G.J.'s hair had grown out a matted black.
"Mom, Dad, lacrosse game, today, five."
"We'll be there," House called from the kitchen.
"Don't forget guys, your sister's coming home pagina tomorrow. So clean up the house. Did u guys fix her room yesterday?"
"Yes mom," they both retorted.
"Haven't seen that girl in forever." House commented.
"What she taking up again?"
"Radiology. I talked to her last night. She commentaar gegeven me on Facebook and she was saying that she's bringing a guy home. I wasn't supposed to tell you. But being the little bro that I am....His name's Lucas Daniel Moore."
"Will u shut up already?" Haley playfully nudged G.J.,.
Cuddy saw House thinking. He started getting the overprotective look.
"Oh and don't forget were dropping door Uncle Wilson's. It's his birthday today." Cuddy said, changing the subject.
"Shouldn't u kiddies be getting to school?" House zei as he ate his cereal over the counter.
"Oh crap. C'mon Hayls." So G.J. and Haley quickly grabbed their backpacks, flung them over their shoulders and went for the door. As they did so, Cuddy walked up to House.
"She's fine. We've had the talk with her before high school." She reassured him.
"These are college boys. Just like high school boys, all they want is sex. Except around this time, it's easier. I know, I've been there."
She lifted her hands to the back of his neck, overlapping them.
"We taught her well. You taught her well. And who knows, u might end up liking this guy." He just rolled his eyes as she continued to reassure him of their daughters safety. The kids slid on their shoes and opened the door.
"Damn. Ma! Your car's in the way."
"Damn it. I'm coming." She let go of him and she quickly grabbed her keys. She stopped for a seconde and then grabbed her portemonnee and then walked over to the front door.
"I'll just drive u guys to school. We'll pick u guys up after lacrosse. Hold on."
She went back into the keuken-, keuken and ran right into House.
"Knew u were forgetting something?"
"I knew."
She lingered a kiss on his lips.
"See u at work."
And she walked off in her usual yet classic stilettos.
House just smiled at them as they walked out. And before heading to work he went for the bathroom and slipped on his wedding band. It was laying on the counter where he had left it after his vorige nights shower. He changed into his normal corduroys, button down overhemd, shirt and blazer before heading out the door. Suddenly, as he got in his car and drove off to work, he thought of the conversation he had with Wilson years ago. At his reception to be exact...
18 years earlier
House was alone at the balcony of the reception hall. He was looking out into the night as the stars shined. They shined brighter tonight than most nights, and they formed a gracious kant, lace across the sky. He kept this as his enjoyment, and threw back a couple sips of his champagne.
Suddenly, Wilson came outside and joined him. They both looked out into the night.
"How do u feel?"
"Am I supposed to answer?"
"This is a big step for you."
"I know. That's why I took it."
"Are u happy?"
He didn't respond for several seconds.
"I don't think I can ever be happy. of fully happy at least. I don't think we all are ever 'happy.' We never really get that full satisfaction that we think we all deserve because we are who we are. But no. We don't deserve it. That's why when we are granted a piece of happiness, of contentment, it brings us that warm feeling inside. That rare emotion of feeling self-satisfied."
"So what you're saying is, u don't deserve to be happy?"
"That's not for me to decide. I'm not giving myself the happiness. Someone else does. That one person being Lisa Renee Cuddy. And I, being Gregory Mason House Sn., think that she deserves happiness. Every person has someone holding their happiness. Every person has the right to receive that happiness and grant that happiness. And it's all a process. A process we know as love."
He took another sip of his champagne.
"So Cuddy controls your happiness?"
"Yes. She was created to do so, and yes, I was created to do the same for her. Again, the whole process of love."
"So u were meant for each other?"
"In a sense. She has qualities that annuleer out mine and it goes likewise for her."
"Do u regret that fact?"
"I'm glad it's her and not someone else-"
He paused. He gulped down the last of his champagne and looked through the windows on the glass doors. He stared at her, dancing with the team, Chase and Cameron. She was smiling and laughing. Then Wilson looked at the windows too, then looking at House.
"I'm only living with one regret. I had found her at the perfect time. She was there. But I didn't hook. I didn't hook until what, decades later. My regret is, I waited till the infection spread so far, that door the time I treated it, the whole body shut down, within a short amount of time."
"So u wish u told her much sooner than u did?"
"I wish I had her much sooner than I did."
