Later that night, Hugh was wearing a smile when he got home. His children were playing scrabble in the living room as their father closed the door behind him. He walked straight to see his kids unable to notice his wife coming down the stairs. He sat near Charlie whose turn is coming. Jo stopped in mid-way to see what her husband was up to.
Hugh: <to Charlie> How’d u doing?
Charlie: <looked at his dad> Fine <looked at the board game again and his dad did the same>
Hugh: Add some letters to what Bill had placed over there and you’ll get Neurocysticercosis.
Rebecca: <looking at her dad with on eyebrow up> Dad…
Hugh: What?
Rebecca: That’s cheating… <to Charlie> hey, don’t u dare place that word on here…
Charlie was about to put the last letter “S” on board when Bill saw it.
Bill: Hey, that’s cheating!
Charlie was laughing and Bill threw a hoofdkussen, kussen to him but in a light manner. Charlie then threw to Bill another. Rebecca was pissed since the game’s been ruined so she threw a hoofdkussen, kussen to the two as well. Hugh was laughing and played along with his kids. Jo smiled as she looked at his husband and kids have fun together and in her mind was the thought that Hugh hadn’t change at all.
Couple of hours later, Jo found her husband in the bathroom shaving some beard. She stood on the doorway and looked at him for awhile.
Jo: I’m sorry for what I did the other day, Honey…
Hugh: Why? What did u do?
Jo: I actually suspected u having an affair… <Hugh turned to see her but didn’t say anything> but then I was wrong. I know, it was bad of me ---
Hugh: <turned back and faced the mirror again> I don’t want to hear it. u already suspected, it has been done and I have nothing else to do with it.
Hugh’s voice was arrogant and he walked out the room and went to get some new clothes. Jo just stood there and the idea of Hugh having an affair once again began to re-emerge.
Jo: u used to tell me if something’s not right we have to zitplaats, stoel down and talk ---
Hugh: Do we have something to talk about?
Jo: Yes. ------ I can barely see u ---
Hugh: <turned to face his wife> Hey, I’m working here. My schedules piling through the roof and u hand me a complain like that?
Jo: What the hell changed, Hugh?! --- You’re already working hard for the past years like that but this is the first that I feel alone raising the kids…
Hugh: <sighed> it isn’t just about the kids…
Jo: No, it isn’t… ---- It’s about us. About me being your wife and u being a husband.
Hugh: So you’re saying I’m not playing my role as a husband? <Voice was loud> for god’s sake, Jo! What meer do u want?! I’m working hard to give my kids and u a good living ---
Jo: <Now mad as bad as Hugh> I don’t give a damn on how we live, on what u can and can’t give! --- I want my husband back, it’s all I need and all I wanted!
Hugh: Oh, cut the crap! If I am not the husband u used to know, I shouldn’t be here standing in front of you! --- u actually haven’t gegeven up the idea in your mind that I am having an affair ---
Jo: Are you? --- Because that is what you’re trying to make me feel!
Hugh: I am not --- having an affair! <They were silent for a minuut and Hugh spoke this in a whispery tone> But if I am that is because I am no longer as happy as before.
Hugh sighed and walked out the door after kicking the stoel, kruk beside him. Jo was crying door then and slowly wept on their bed.
It was nearly two months of Hugh’s and Lisa’s affair but nobody seemed to notice it. Hugh would go visit her but make sure that he won’t spend the night in her place. The tension between he and his wife was settled for the sake of the kids but Jo is still suspicious about her husband. Lisa, on the other hand, was free like a bird when she learned that Giammario’s going to settle for awhile somewhere in the Philippines to work as a volunteer doctor. Their fellow actors and producers in House haven’t noticed it too since they acted as professionals on and off-screen. In short, all personal matters between them were done at Lisa’s place of somewhere they could be alone.
One afternoon, on the dag of their third monthsary, Hugh entered Lisa’s dressing room while she was putting make up in front of the mirror while sitting. Both smiled when they saw each other again. Hugh started to walk to Lisa.
Lisa: Hey… <Hugh stood behind her and bent down to kiss her on her lips while Lisa moved her head as if looking at the ceiling>
Hugh: <whispery and sweetly in his British accent> Happy Monthsary…
Lisa smiled upon hearing those sweet words coming from the man she loved. Hugh smiled as well when he saw the hart-, hart melting smile of her. Lisa moved her head again and began re-touching her make up and he looked at her on the mirror.
Lisa: Just wait a sec, would you? I have to finish this up…
Hugh: Trust me, u don’t need that. You’re as beautiful as Dr. Cuddy.
Lisa: <she glanced at him and smiled> Bluffing <continued her re-touching> Dr. House wouldn’t like Cuddy to be looking old, u know. I want him to see me as radiant as possible.
Hugh: I would fight for u if House gets u from me.
They laughed and were silent for while.
Hugh: So where are we heading for tonight?
Lisa: u wanna go out? Are u out of your mind?
Hugh: The press knows we’re friends. vrienden go out too, right?
Lisa: But they’re with other friends.
Hugh: It’s just too awkward to go out with Robert and Jen with us.
Lisa sighed and dropped the make up brush, stood in front of Hugh as close as possible and smiled.
Lisa: u know we can’t do it ---
Hugh: So you’re saying <he placed his hands on both side of Lisa’s waist> we’re going to have avondeten, diner at your house again?
Lisa: Do u want it to be in your place? <she chuckled and he did as well>
Hugh: <whispery voice again> Okay, I’ll be there door 7
He leaned closer to give Lisa a quick kiss on her lips. They’re eyes were locked again as Hugh’s hands were still on her waist. The door suddenly swung opened and Robert appeared on the doorway, looking stunned with what he was looking at. Hugh and Lisa looked at him and they all stood there for like how many years. He unleashed her as Robert slowly closed the door behind him and was now in the room with them still surprised with what he’d seen.
