hallo guys! This is my first ever actual fic about anything, so I thought it warranted an introduction. And a warning of sorts: this may be exceedingly bad.
Anyways, the idea for this came when I heard "The Only Exception" door Paramore. (you can watch the muziek video link, it's not exactly what I have planned for this story, but the theme of the vid is pretty close). I just thought it was a beautiful song, so it inspired me to write this fic. Here are some of the lyrics, enjoy!

Six years. Almot seven, actually. Seven years. That's a long time, Lisa thought. Long enough to understand someone. Long enough to be able to see when they were uncomfortable, regardless of the politeness, the jokes. Long enough to be able to say everything with just one glance.
Lisa remembered the first time she realized that she loved Hugh Laurie. She had just finished shooting a slightly depressing scene, and was sitting on a bench in the hospital set corridor, head leaned back, eyes closed. And suddenly, he had been there beside her.
"You okay?" Hugh said, concern etched all over his face.
Lisa sighed. "Yeah, it's just that last scene...it got me kind of down."
Hugh was silent for a long time, until Lisa, her eyes still closed, wondered if he had simply left. But then, out of the blue, he exclaimed, "Lisa! Look!" She turned to stare at Hugh, slightly nonplussed door the sudden eagerness in his voice.
"Bleh," he zei as he turned to face her, sticking his tongue out and crossing his eyes. At first, Lisa just looked at him, a slightly shocked expression on her face. And then she burst into laughter. After a few seconds, Hugh joined in.
"What...was that?!" Lisa gasped, staring at him incredulously.
"Just thought that might make u feel a little better," Hugh said. And then he smiled.
That smile...it was what Lisa remembered the most vividly about that moment. It wasn't a big smile, it wasn't wide of toothy of boisterous. She had always had the feeling that it never grew to its full potential. But there was something about it, in the way his mouth curved just slightly upwards, and his ice blue eyes suddenly melted into the gentle, turquoise waters of a tropical sea; a vast ocean that u could dive into, and never look back. His face did not light up like a child's at the sight of a chocolate bar of stuffed animal, but there was an undeniable warmth that spread over it. Lisa remembered how, as she had gazed at Hugh, a grin still on her face from the uncontrollable laughter of just a few seconden before, she had thought how easy it would be to fall in love with that smile. With a man who would make ridiculous faces just to help u up when u were down. Really, she had thought, it would be far too easy to fall in love with someone like that.

It was the last dag of shooting before they wrapped Season 6. Lisa couldn't quite believe it as she pulled up to the vos, fox lot, coffee cup in hand. This season had been like a whirlwind--it had come and gone so quickly, and Lisa felt just the slightest bit dazed. She supposed that all the seasons before had went door really quickly as well, but the writers seemed to have "promoted" Cuddy this year. Lisa had been so busy that she didn't even have a moment to realize how fast the time was passing. She sighed as she got out of the car and squinted into the semidarkness of six-thirty in the morning.
"Hey!" Lisa jumped as a voice called to her from somewhere behind her car. Hugh came sauntering out of the shadows, grinning slightly.
"Hugh! You're early!" Lisa said, hugging him as he kissed her on the cheek.
"As I recall, you're the one who normally comes after seven," Hugh teased. "I, on the other hand, am a punctual English gentleman."
"Huh. Is that right," Lisa replied, rolling her eyes and starting to walk towards her trailer. In two long strides, Hugh was beside her. Lisa glanced at him and couldn't help but chuckle at his energy.
"So," Hugh zei after several moments of comfortable silence, "House and Cuddy today, hm? The moment has finally arrived..."
Lisa felt a few butterflies stir slightly in the pit of her stomach as she remembered reading the last scene of the finale in the script. It was going to be a tough one. "Yeah, u ready for our emotionally loaded last day?" she said, clapping her hands in mock enthusiasm. As Lisa looked up at Hugh, however, she saw him staring down at her, brows furrowed, an unreadable expression on his face. It cleared immediately when he saw her looking at him.
"Of course!" Hugh replied, playing along with Lisa's fake excitement and smiling widely. "Oh yes, and here is your trailer, m'lady. The handsome knight," he pointed at himself, "will be awaiting u on set." Hugh bowed and turned away.
Lisa smiled after him, but as she unlocked the trailer door she couldn't quite shake the feeling that there was something a little off about Hugh that day. She would be sure to ask him about it later.

"Oh, great. You're uncomfortable again," Hugh began sarcastically, a sharply bitter edge to his voice. "Probably means u just got back from some quickie wedding in Vegas, of you're already pregnant--"
"I ended it," Lisa interrupted him. Hugh looked up at her, his face transformed door shock, awe, the slightest possibility that there was still hope...
"What?" he whispered, voice barely audible.
Lisa stared into Hugh's eyes as she zei her volgende lines, which were already so ingrained in her mind she didn't have to think about them much. Hugh's eyes glowed a startling blue in the dim lighting of the bathroom set, and his face was so open, so vulnerable...Lisa knew that he was just acting, just being House, but at that moment she wanted someone to tell him to not worry. Everything was going to be okay. God, that man is good, Lisa thought. Then she was helping Hugh up, and then he was right there in front of her, and then his eyes were so close that Lisa had to close her own. Hugh caressed Lisa's face tenderly with his own, their lips barely touching. Then he pulled away.
"How do I know I'm not hallucinating?" Hugh murmured, narrowing his eyes.
"Did u take the Vicodin?"
Hugh looked at his hand. "Nope," he said, dropping the pills to the floor. Then, he leaned in again as Lisa smiled, and kissed her. Their hands clasped.
"Cut!" Greg yelled. Hugh quickly pulled away from Lisa. He grinned at her, but as she looked at him his eyes looked tense, nervous. Lisa was about to ask what was wrong when David came up to them.
"Great work guys!" he zei warmly, "Greg's just making sure we have all the shots we need, but I think we're done! And it's only, what, ten?"
"Oh, haha David," Lisa said, a wave of tiredness suddenly crashing over her. "But seriously...we're done?"
"Yup!" Greg called from his zitplaats, stoel volgende to the camera. "See u at the inpakken, wrap party, Lisa, Hugh. Get some rest, u guys need it!"
Lisa stifled a yawn as she hugged David, then Hugh, and bade the others goodbye. As she walked through the apartment set and out to her trailer, she could barely keep her eyes open. What with all the scenes Lisa had had to film over the past week, which were emotionally draining to say the least, she had not had much sleep at all. She was halfway across the lot, warm thoughts of fluffy bed covers and all her dogs snuggled against her already floating through her mind, when someone called her name.
"Lisa?"
It took a while for Lisa's exhausted brain to register the tone of the voice, the tentative, almost strangled quality of it. She slowly turned around, and saw Hugh standing in the doorway. Lisa wasn't too far away, so she could see the expression on his face, and it scared her. He looked terrified, as if he had surprised himself door calling her name, but his eyes also had a wild brand in them, something passionate, almost angry...
Lisa barely had time to react before Hugh strode towards her and stopped, two feet away. She was wide awake now.
"Hugh?" she asked, her voice coming out in an involuntary whisper. Lisa was afraid, for reasons that she couldn't quite explain. There was just something in Hugh's face that she had never seen before.
As Lisa looked into his eyes, she saw something change. The brand diminished a little, he suddenly looked unsure, disoriented, like he had just woken up. Hugh stared at Lisa, frozen.
"I..." he began, his voice trailing off into nothingness.
"Hugh," Lisa zei again. "What's wrong?"
Hugh had dropped his gaze down to his shoes, but at the sound of Lisa's voice his head snapped up. His expression was wild, his breathing ragged, and then he stepped forward. And time stopped.
There is a moment, when u are about to fall, during which u realize what is about to happen. Everybody knows this, this feeling of the inevitable, of suddenly, for a spleet, split second, knowing. The moment drags, it cruelly gives u time to contemplate the pain that u are about to be in, and then it sends u crashing to the ground.
That moment...it could be an eternity. If things were different, someone could live forever in that moment. It seems all too possible that it branches off and just exists door itself, one seconde stretching on endlessly. u could be suspended in that moment until the end of time, and never hit the ground.
But suddenly, forever was gone. Everything was suddenly not frozen. And in one fluid motion, Hugh stepped close to Lisa, cupped her face in his hands, and kissed her.

Also, I apologize if that was a little confusing, I promise I'll elaborate on my ideas for the characters and the whole premise of the story later on. Don't know when I'll have time to write part 2, but I will try to soon, since I really enjoyed writing this one! There's something so relaxing about writing a fic...haha alright I'm just babbling now. Um, for lack of a good closing statement, the Leno interview's tonight!
