Narrated Ibn 'Umar (radiyallaahu 'anhu):
Allah's Messenger (salallaahu 'alaihi wa'sallam) said:
Islam is based on (the following) five (principles):
1.To testify that La ilaha ill-Allah wa anna Muhammad-ar-Rasul Allah
(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah).
2.Iqaamat-as-Salat [to offer the (compulsory congregational salat (prayers) dutifully and perfectly].
3.To pay Zakat.
4.To perform Hajj (i.e pilgrimage to Makka).
5.To observe Saum [fasts (according to islamic teachings)] during the maand of Ramadan.

To believe in:
1. Allah [in His Existence, His Oneness in His Atributes, His deserving to be worshipped and supplicated and His right to legislate].
2. His angels [being created from light for obeying Allah's Orders].
3. His boeken [ the Torah, the Gospel of Jesus, the Psalm of David and the Qur'an which is the best of them].
4. His Messengers [ the first of them was Noah and the last of them was Muhammad sallallaahu alaihi wasallam, being the zeehond, seal of the Prophets].
5. The Last dag [ the dag of resurrection for the reckoning of the people according to their deeds, and their appropriate compensation (award of punishment)].
6. And to believe in Qadar (Divine preordainment) [that all which occurs of good and evil is door Divine decree, accompained door the employment of means to achieve desired results with satisfaction of what happens of good of bad, the sweet and the bitter, because it occurs door Allah's Decree].
