I love both quite equally, really. I prefer Matthew only slightly.

Help! Help to ideal Mr.Darcy!!!

Colin Firth plays darcy as in the book. But we have to say that this adaptation is closer to the novel than the 2005 version . Matthew plays wonderfully darcy, but he's sadder than in the book .

Colin Firth didn't smile at all!!! He was sadder or even angrier..

Yeah Colin was born to play Darcy. Matthew is a good actor but more eyecandy at times than Darcy-ish. As was Kiera who was IMO the worst choice for Elizabeth ever.

There would never be another Darcy like Colin. I liked Matthew but... woah! Colin IS Darcy.

Well thank the lord. I was getting worried in some other picks, but I must say, the entire cast of the 95 version was a million times better and was able to do the story justice with there being 6 episodes. I suppose those who prefer the 2005 version were too lazy to watch the 6 hours of the bbc brilliance.(ah no i joke!)

Colin Firth IS Mr. Darcy..I mean literally, time traveled into the 20th century and made the movie!
If you read the books, watch the movie, then read the books again, it was soo awesome!

I mean c'mon....Oh btw Darcy did smile! When he realized all was well with Elizabeth and himself, closer to the end HE DID SMILE..Rather handsomely I might add!

Colin Firth didn't even seem to know how to ACT, it's true that some of the events weren't exactlly from the book, but it is MUCH BETTER,
usually i don't like it when they change a fact in the book, but when they make it BETTER it doesn't bother me at all.
2005 version was the BEST in every way.

i agree with ppv. colin didn't smile, even when he was declaring his love for lizzy, he seemed to be fighting with her!! it's like he's punishing her or something!!

Colin is the better Darcy. He played him perfectly. Maybe he's not your dreamman but he's an fantastic and amazing actor.

i think it has lots to do with age groups dont get me wrong i love colin firth but matthew was brilliant. Colin firth was to fridgy!
and the newer generations that are discovering p&p love matthew!

^I have a lot of people who are not that young, and they love Matthew better...

Mathew Macfadyn is a dreamboat.

One reason is that I personally don't find Matthew that handsome. And Colin's acting was better. :)
