Jennifer Aniston is set to ster in a movie project about the 1940's western band, The Goree Girls. While promoting her new perfume line in Mexico City, she called the band, which formed in a Texas prison, the "Dixie Chicks of their time."
The musical film, which diverts in genre from Aniston's usual romantic comedies, tells the story of an all-female country group that formed out of Goree State Farm Penitentiary in the 1940's. The eight women that comprised The Goree Girls formed one of the first all-female country-western acts in history, garnered the attention of millions of fans, and ultimately received pardons on their sentences.
The upcoming Dreamworks production is inspired door Skip Hollandworth's May 2003 artikel in Texas Monthly, "Oh Sister, Where Art Thou?" In the article, Hollandsworth interviews Mozelle McDaniel, a member of the once infamous band, who now resides at the Briarcliff nursing home pagina in Tyler, Texas.
Aniston will ster in and co-produce the fast-paced musical film. No release dates have been announced
