“Okay! We have a tight schedule today, so we have to get this to run smoothly as soon as possible.” Alison’s voice fills the dance studio and everyone nods, silently saying that they’ll try their best.
Just then, the door opens and catches everyone’s attention. Justin enters, oblivious to all the stares he’s getting, while sipping on a water bottle. He stops in his track when he senses the looks and pulls the bottle from his lips.
“Well, don’t stop on my account. I know how much Alison loves your devoted attention.” Justin grins playfully at Alison who only rolls her eyes at him. “Okay, guys. Let’s take it from All Around the World first. Then we’ll do Boyfriend and Take You.”
Getting into your position, u inhale deeply - making yourself ready. u just know that this will be one of the toughest dance routines so far. This has to run smoothly before any of u can step a foot outside the studio.
Alison presses play on the stereo and the muziek immediately booms around the room. u close your eyes, feeling the muziek verplaats through your body. Taking another deep breath, your eyes snap open as your body automatically begins with the practiced choreography.
u smile, seeing all the other dancers moving around the floor in the same tempo as you. This is what u love to do. Dancing is and probably always will be your ultimate passion. The song ends all too soon and the room erupts with cheers and applause.
“That was awesome, u guys! Keep this up and we’ll be finished in no time.” Scooter announces happily before turning his attention back to Kenny.
You’re sipping on your own water bottle when a slight cough alerts u of someone else’s presence. Wiping your forehead with the back of your hand, u turn around with a smile on your lips. The smile falls almost immediately when u notice that the person is Justin.
The thing is, after u became Justin’s backup dancer - u haven’t really talked to him. It’s meer like agreements and greetings and stuff along those lines. Seeing him in front of u now only makes u fear the worst. Did u miss a step? Wasn’t it good enough?
“Hey, Y/N.” Justin greets, smiling as usual. u furrow your brows, feeling slightly confused. So he didn’t come to yell at you?
“Hey, Justin.” u return the smile as u bend down to place your purple bottle back on the floor.
“So… I was watching u dance earlier-”
Great. So he ishere to commentaar on my dancing. God, I was probably awful.
“I’m sorry. It just feels so good to be dancing again and I just love the choreography. I promise, I’ll do it better volgende time-” The words escapes your mouth long before u can even comprehend it.
“Whoa. Hey, hey.” Justin smiles softly, holding his hands up. “You were great, Y/N. Better than great - amazing. I actually came over to ask if u would want to be my partner in one of the routines in Boyfriend? I’m supposed to get ‘close and cozy’ with one of the girls according to the bosses.” He grins shamelessly, raising a questioning brow at you.
“Oh, uhm…” u flush, biting your lip out of embarrassment. “I would love to, really. I just… Why me though?”
Although u are flattered - very flattered at that - u couldn’t help but wonder why Justin had chosen you? Was it even him who had chosen you? Did he think u were good of did he just think that this was an opportunity to make u better without u noticing?
“Because you’re amazing. u have so much talent, Y/N. And I can see u want this. I see it in your eyes every time the muziek comes on; how your body moves along to the rhythm flawlessly. u love to dance. That’s why.” Justin explains.

In the corner of your eye, u barely catch Alison looking at the two of u and a small smirk making its way to her face. What is going on?
“Everybody, can I get your attention, please? This - I’m sure all of u know - is Y/N. She’s gonna be my partner for the solo routine in Boyfriend. I want u other ladies to know what you’re great dancers, too, but I just had to choose her for this. No hard feelings, eh?” Justin chuckles huskily, still not letting go of your hand.
“You just chose her because you’ve got the hots for her, Biebs.” Another dancer - a boy, but you’re too busy blushing to notice who - calls out. “Can’t say I blame u though.”
“Aye, back off, bro. Mine.” Justin growls playfully, yanking your arm suddenly before spinning u into his embrace. He wraps his arms around your waist from behind and rests his chin on your shoulder.
The room burst out laughing, Justin too, but you’re too caught up in your own mind to kom bij in on the fun. Are they just teasing? If so, that isn’t really a nice joke. u smile weakly, trying to brush it off but that it easier zei than done.
