To make it as clear and concise as possible, I'll go door chronology.
Season 1
As Mark Schwahn recently quoted, "Leyton's Seeds were planted from the very beginning." If I could use a few words to describe Leyton's love in Season 1, they'd be Terrifying; Raw; New [and a little old on the one side]; Overwhelming.
When a force bombards two individuals without warning, there are only so many ways to react. When Leyton's Love was born it was born unique. It was born controversial; misunderstood door many. It was like a cryptic story that only some would be able to decode and whole heartedly appreciate. It was a shooting love that would not meet a happy ending without a fight, for trials would certainly meet this couple head on. Being young, cowardly, and confused, Leyton complicated their situation until it was beyond repair. With love, came lies, deceit, cheating, and broken hearts. So with a less than mutual agreement, Leyton ended their love affair with a deep seeded hope that they'd find their way back someday.
One thing I took from that season was hope. The love Lucas and Peyton shared came quick and grew exponentially. And in the end, many people failed to realize that it never left - it was simply put away into a box, to be later opened when the time was right.
Season 2
Tucked away, fastened tightly, Leyton's love remained dormant overwhelmed door circumstance. Unable to return to normalcy, Leyton remained separated. But as Lucas revealed in 210, the connection never left. "Despite what u might think, I really do care about you, Peyton." And as I've zei before, some fans interpreted Leyton's separation in season 2 as an "obvious proof that what they shared in s1 was anything but love." I took Leyton's separation as a reaction to heartbreak. They feared the love they shared that failed to acquire a happy ending. They feared being around each other. Thus Leyton's road became a winding one. Luke's road led to Brooke Davis. Peyton's road led to Jake Jagielski. Funny thing was, that Leyton didn't need to make an effort when their Love began to haunt boom heuvel once again. People still debate to this dag about the box of things Lucas kept that reminded him of Peyton. Despite Leyton's best efforts to stay away from one another, they found their way back in the end and subsequently spent the summer together.
Season 3
Such a love couldn't stay tucked away forever. It started pounding its way out. Slowly; inconspicuously. It finally presented itself again - but in a less recognizable form. It was in the form of friendship. Despite its "different" form, this love had grown substantially. Their summer together strengthened their bond. Lucas and Peyton were in love with different people, but they were also somehow inseparable - which would later complicate things. They had gotten to a point where their friendship was stronger than their respectable relationships with their other lovers. Both Brooke and Jake noticed it - and it was unsettling. Lucas and Peyton were prepared to do anything, and I mean anything for each other. A love so Majestic can only remain in a platonic form for so long. It began to peak its true form inch door inch as the episodes rolled by:
301 - "It's always gonna be there isn't it? u and me."
310 - "I love being that guy for you." He literally chose to be there for Peyton over Brooke.
313 - The Carbon Copied Leyton Love Letter.
314 - "Everything's gonna be alright right?" "Yeah, yeah it is." "I feel like you're always rescuing me."
316 - "You're always saving me. If I say, I Love you, right now, will u hold it against me?" And the infamous controversial kiss.
317/303 - Luke's constant habit of opening up to Peyton before anyone else.
321 - In secret, they admitted to one another, that they truly did still love each other.
322 - When Nate zei some convicting words in his wedding vows to Haley, Leyton locked eyes: "I don't think that anyone really understood the love that I had for you; cause if they did, they would have never doubted us."
Peyton had gotten to a point where she'd seen her love for Lucas in its true form. Without a doubt, Lucas was, is and would always be the Love of Her Life. And Lucas' discovery of the same truth, was not far behind...
Season 4
It was very interesting - how the season started out. Lucas was still clouded door his loose ends with Brooke Davis. And Peyton had tied her loose ends [so to speak] with Jake. Peyton's vision was crystal clear - Lucas. And she was willing to wait for as long as it took. It was as if part of her knew that she and Lucas were inevitable. Some thought Peyton's motives to be manipulative, but I truly admired her selfless grace and patience up to 408. Her strength was staggering.
Lucas, being the infamous emotional retard that he was, took a bit longer to realize where his hart-, hart always lied. Time passed and Lucas was still convincing himself that he loved Peyton as a friend - nothing more. Yet he spent every waking moment with her - even meer than he did in season 3. He noticed the little things like Ian/psycho derek's weird mannerisms, and he always seemed to end up saving Peyton one way of another. He always chose to be there. Lucas and Peyton were best vrienden and beyond. When the time was finally right, Peyton revealed Truth to lucas. A truth that would reverberate without mercy - Love in its Purest Form. However the same fear crept onto Luke as it did in season 1. Doubt and confusion clouded his Soul, for how can Leyton work after everything that happened in the past?
I believe that Lucas always knew the Truth about Peyton - even if it was tucked away in seeds of Denial. She was, is, and would always be...His. And just as much if not more, He belonged to Her. It took but a small catalyst to return Luke back to a true balance - "I'll be seeing ya." (101/409). Lucas remembered the beginning. In the beginning it was Peyton. She was there when the first of his many dreams came true. He knew then and there that no other would ever replace the balance Peyton emitted in his world. The veil was finally removed from Lucas' eyes, and that was it. There was nothing but Bliss in the Horizon through to graduation.
Season 5
After Season 4, there was no going back. But long distance and different priorities drove Lucas to call it quits (impatient broken hearted coward). No matter how hard Lucas and Peyton zei it was over this season, it was far from it. They never successfully put their love away into a box this time around. It was too big around. It had morphed into an Erratic, Unpredictable, and Dangerous form because it had been left unattended. It was leaking everywhere. Lucas' book, Lucas' second book, Peyton buying every book of Lucas' she found, then the reunion. Once Peyton returned to boom Hill, neither of them stood a chance. The harder Leyton tried to repress their Love, the harder it came out pounding. As soon as Leyton spoke again, Lucas returned to his old habit of saving Peyton. Then jealousy crept in as Peyton started "fishing" ("He's not good enough for you."). Then there came the 2 part explosion in 506/507. Most Leyton fans hated season 5 - but I appreciated the Raw Love it showed us. It proved that though they were broken up yet again, they didn't stand a chance. I could literally feel their gravitational pull. They were Hopelessly in Love and their reunion had fallen mercy to Inevitability. Funny thing is, they never actually denied once that they were in Love. They just ran scared until their roads eventually met - they always do. Like magnetic comets they Always Met; no matter how hard they tried to avoid it.
"...the words u wrote, the vrienden u had, the urgency u felt will always be there under the paint. The love u professed will always be there, the spark of something undeniable, a seed of hope, the truth for better of for worse burning fiercely just below the surface..."
Then the Crash: the proposal over the phone. Controversial of course, lol. I mean, Luke almost married Lindsey - now he's proposing to Peyton? Safety net much? This just doesn't make sense! But as usual, Leyton's story is a cryptic one that people need to carefully decode to understand. Season 5 wasn't about Luke jumping from one ship to another - it was about Luke's journey back to his heart. It was about Lucas and Peyton growing up - together. No meer running; no meer games; no meer cheating; just Maturity, Humility, and Selflessness, in face of the Truth.
Season 6
If at first u don't succeed, try try again. There's a Solidity and a Freshness about Leyton that I've been thoroughly appreciating this season. They're not overly "sexified" nor are they unbearably corny. They share an evolved Love that will not be broken door circumstances this time. All barriers have faded to a level that has enabled a fusion - Body (Leyton Baby) Mind (thinking pattern), and Soul (I still believe Luke's dream was his Soul manifesting its knowledge that something life threatening was going to happen to Peyton). At this point, they cannot be apart. They're One.
"A while back I had a dream, that something happened to you. It got me to thinking, about my life without u and I c...I can't live....No. I can't live that life I caaan't..."
Is further Evolution possible
No matter what happens now, I'm grateful that I've been able to witness such an amazing story of Love onscreen. Despite many fans' Love/Hate relationship with Mark S., I love everything that he's done with Leyton. It's brought them here. They're perfect. I don't mean they're without flaws (which is expected - real), I mean they're perfect for each other - to say the least. They've been Pulled, Broken, Molded and Shaped into fitted morsels that just...Fit! The dynamics and versatility of Leyton's Love are a rare breed. And though I do not know what awaits us in season 7, I can say now that I am wholly satisfied with the Love that I have gotten to behold for the past 6 years.
