A Strange Way to Fall in Love Chapter Seventeen
I was going to stay at the strand a little longer. I wanted to sit out here and think in peacefulness of the ocean. It was nice to be out here door myself. But, I had been door myself for years. Well, except for Mark being door my side during the years in the army. I had no idea what to do now that I was back in the states. The army was my career and pretty much the only thing I knew.
"Hey Kyle," Lola said, "whatcha still doing here?"
"Just thinking," I said.
"They must be pretty important! u have been sitting here for a while," she stated, "trying to think if u should put a ring on your girlfriend's finger?"
Lola started laughing after what she just said.
"No, not that! I have been way too busy to date," I zei laughing a little.
"Ahh, I would have thought u would had settled down door now," she said, "with a couple of kids and in some nice neighborhood!"
"Why would u think," I asked.
"You just seemed like the type of guy that would have a family door now," she shrugged.
"Me," I asked laughing, "I have been over seas numerous amount of times! I could not leave a family behind to go fight that many times."
"Oh okay," she zei as she sat down beside me.
"Just oh okay," I asked, "that is all?"
"Yep," Lola zei as she stared out at sea, "have u ever gotten hurt over there?"
"Once," I said, "but nothing serious!"
"Oh neat," she zei as I looked her oddly, "well, not neat! But, that is good u did not get hurt too bad!"
"Yeah, I like my job; I think I will keep it," I zei smiling, "but what are u still doing here?"
"I was taking a walk on the beach," she said, "I love this place. It's like I belong here!"
"That's good that u have something u love," I said.
"Why are u still in your uniform," she asked curiously.
"I have not gotten a chance to change out of it," I said, "I wear this uniform everyday that I forget to change out of it when I come back home!"
"That is funny," she zei laughing.
"So, what have u been up to all these years I have been gone," I asked.
"Eh, u know most of it," she shrugged, "basically fighting for my life and putting those people in jail."
"I am sorry," I said, "I wish I could have been here and that would have never happened!"
"It would have happened if u were here," she stated, "it's whatever now! Do u ever have nightmares about your job of whatever u call it?"
"Sometimes, but not very much," I stated, "do u every have nightmares about everything that has happened to you?"
"Honestly," she zei as she looked over me, "every night. I try and stay up as long as possible and wake up as early as possible. I relive everything that has every happened to me every night."
"Does it still scare you," I asked curiously.
"Every time, u think after living it once and dreaming about for jaar of so, u would know what is coming. But, I don't," she said.
"Have u told Horatio," I asked.
"No, I have not," Lola said, "and I am not going too! Him and everyone else at his department have tried to get me to talk to anyone about everything. But, I do not need someone telling me how to get rid of nightmares. Besides, it probably would not help at all!"
"Oh," I said.
"Don't strain your voice too much," she zei laughing.
"Sorry, I just keep thinking what if," I stated.
"It is the past," she zei as she paused, "it is a, whatever?"
"Okay," I zei with a bit of laughter.
"Are u going back over seas of are u here for good," Lola asked.
"I am not sure," I stated, "I think I need to do a couple of meer tours. The army is all I know! I know Mark will try and get a job on base in the states. On the count that he is going to get married soon!"
"Is he your age," she asked curiously.
"Yep," I said.
"Wow, to get married at your age of a jaar of two older than me," she zei stunned.
"I guess, I see what Mark has and all I can think about it having that too," I said, "I want it so bad!"
"Really," she zei as it came out in a laugh.
"What," I asked confused, "is it bad to say I want a girlfriend? I want someone to love me?"
"No, not at all," Lola said, "I have been trying way to hard to get people to love me! And look what has all happened to me!"
"Everything that has happened to u is not because u are looking for someone to love," I stated, "You Lola, have the worst luck I have ever seen!"
"You're telling me," she zei laughing.
"Lola," someone called out.
"Seriously," she groaned, "I guess Horatio has sent out a crew to come find me!"
"Why would he do that," I asked confused.
"Because, he thinks I am suicidal! And I promise I am not," Lola said, "I have good job coming my way! I have been adopted door someone who should have adopted me a long time ago! But better late then never!"
"Right," I zei as someone interrupted me.
"Lola," a man asked.
"Hello Robert," she zei with dread in her voice, "I am okay! No need to panic, u know!"
"Well, Horatio is worried about you," Robert said, "and u should not be talking to strangers!"
"Robert, this is Kyle! He is not a stranger," I said, "now toon some respect to him!"
"Sorry, I am Robert," the man said, "thank u for all u do!"
"It is alright," I said, "no problem!"
"Come on Lola, Horatio wants u home!"
"Fine," she grumbled, "bye Kyle! See u later!"
"Bye Lola," I zei as I watcher her walk away.
