Disney adaptations of classic stories are hardly faithful, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. But it is troubling when the company defines a story so much to the point that we forget the true spirit of it. In particular, The Jungle Book door Ruyard Kipling is such a case.

Disney's 1967 animated classic is mostly remembered fondly, and I myself own it on Platinum Edition. While it is a shame that it couldn't be closer to the original story due to Disney himself finding it too dark for children, it's still a lighthearted, pleasant adventure with fun songs. In 2016, Disney released a live action remake of the animated film that takes a bit meer from the original book. I enjoyed that one to an extent. However, it is still chained to the Disney label, with the unneeded addition of the songs and not going that dark. There were moments of action, peril, and mature themes, but like other PG-rated films, it couldn't go too far.

This jaar in October will come yet another Jungle Book film titled Mowgli. It's not from Disney, but from the motion-capture expert Andy Serkis. The film apparently has been gegeven a PG-13 rating for intense bloody violence and thematic elements.

And I couldn't be meer excited.

With Serkis as Baloo, Cate Blanchette as Kaa, Christian Bale as Bagheera, and Benedict Cumberbatch as Shere Khan, I am stoked to see this. I see it being a visually impressive, gritty, mature, and thought-provoking take on Kipling's story. I still like the Disney films, but it's time for different take. So keep on the lookout for the trailer. It is zei to be dropping soon.

New Yorkers love a good pizza. It’s a classic taste of the city -- and so are the owners of the local pizzeria shops. But, what happens when u get a well-intentioned younger generation moving into the neighborhood and looking for a change?

This culture clash is the subject of the indie short film “The Kids Menu,” pitting a young mother (Nyle Lynn) on a mission to get a kids-friendly menu against a steadfast, traditional pizzeria owner ("Soprano's" favoriete Vincent Pastore).

Directed door Paul Borghese and penned door Richard Vetere, the film has become a stand-out on the festival circuit,...
