A passion for fashion is at the core of the new heartwarming mother-daughter feature film, “Caralique.”

The inspirational journey follows a fashion designer and her daughter, as they navigate the ups and downs of the industry. Each trusting their creativity and imagination, both mother and daughter find a way to make their dreams come true.

Kali Funston is the child actress making her film debut starring as Little Caralique. The now 9-year-old appears in the first half of the film opposite celebrated French actress Hélène Cardona as her mother. The chemistry between the two is apparent from the onset, earning accolades on the festival circuit, including ‘Best Child Actor’ for Kali at the Idyllwild Film Festival and Scotland International Film Festival.

Tell us about your role in “Caralique”.

Kali: My role in "Caralique" was to play a little girl that has dreams of becoming a fashion designer and the life struggles her and her mother go through.

What was the best part about playing Little Caralique?

Kali: The best part about playing Little Caralique was getting to wear cozy pajamas on set and a gorgeous dress on set. Everyone I worked with was so great also!

How was it to work alongside Hélène Cardona?

Kali: Working alongside Helene Cardona was amazing. She is so sweet and talented and speaks so many languages! It was fun speaking French with her on set.

Any fun stories from the set u can share with us?

Kali: A fun story was that the director Elizabeth Blake-Thomas brought her cute dog on set every day. Her dog Chai and I would hang out together during our breaks. I loved having a dog on set.

What’s the biggest lesson u learned from working on this project?

Kali: The biggest lesson I learned is that everyone faces various life struggles, and it is important to never give up on your hopes and dreams. My grandmother passed away just a few months before we shot "Caralique" and I could relate to Caralique a lot while filming.

Kali: “Dance Moms.” I have actually trained with Gianna and Abby.

Kali: “Home Alone”

Kali: A fun fact is I am a dancer and sometimes train 30-40 uur a week!
