Anyone remember the days of how this club- no, this WEBSITE- used to be? I do. I remember it as a place full of great people, ideas, and extravagant conversation.

It was also full of assholes, trolls, conflict, and arguments.

But was that bad? Nah, not really. I like conflict. Can't be a sword without being forged in flame, amirite? Hardships make the soul stronger.

And, unlike how the club is now, it's not so BORING.
I mean really, coming back to the site as it is now, I fully realize why I left in the first place.

This place is so BORING. I mean, maybe it's because i've grown intellectually over time, but nothing here is stimulating me intellectually. Every time a potential conflict is brought up, it's snuffed out immediately, as if it was never going to happen. and that's so BORING.

I feel I should be partially to blame for this, I guess. There were a few cases where conflict was almost sparked and I intentionally snuffed it out, because I didn't want anyone to go through the bullshit of a week-long argument that used to be on a regular basis in the old days.

And I realized just now that there's really no fun in that. This place is so dry, you'd think that it was an African server of something. It's like a burger- it's not tasty without substance of spice.

The old days where arguments were rampant, those were fun. I actually started my first relationship because of a troll, u know. Didn't end well, but that's water on the bridge, I guess.

And these days I feel like there's an air of ignorance on this club. It's like no one here knows anything OTHER than the club.

And I'm about to insult a big portion of the club, so get ready to hate me in

1- THE FUCKING FANFICTIONS

Oh my god, this has always been a problem, I know, but the FANFICTIONS here are soooo stupid!

I only read the first page at a time, to see if it's still a thing, but oh my god it is.
There's no descriptive detail. At all. It's written like a bunch of amateurs would write out RPGs in Habbo Hotel (basically none of u are going to understand that, so I'm just gonna give an example).
Here's how an rpg on habbo hotel would've gone (this example is from a pokemon rpg room)

btpoke: *I use thunderbolt*
btpoke: *it's a hit*
aerowing64: *I dodge it*
aerowing64: Oh sh*t, I didn't type fast enough to dodge it.

Now did u notice anything about that example?
That it didn't exactly seem all that appealing? well, it wasn't, but we acted like it was.

THAT IS WHAT WE ARE DOING RIGHT NOW WITH FANFICTIONS

Every single action is written out with a basic text like *twilight pokes rainbow*

WHO WANTS TO READ THAT GARBAGE?

In a fit of rage, and glowing red with anger, btflash grabs the nearest bookshelf with his powerful, enriched, and totally not fictional muscles. Rippling with power, btflash picks up the bookshelf and throws it towards the nearest wall. The uithangbord and the bookshelf each explode in a clash of wood and plaster, bringing down the fragile ceiling where the supporting beam once was.

"I can't believe I had to destroy a uithangbord AND a bookshelf just to prove a point." Btflash said, while wiping his hand across his sweat-stained brow.

Descriptive. Detail. It adds flair to an otherwise dry and boring story.

And onto my final point. Grimdark shit.
I don't give a shit about it.
It's ok in my mind, but I don't go out of my way to give a shit about it.

alinah_09 I guess i see what you mean,since I myself am more of the Descriptive story kind of person...but like you said,it has become boring,and a lot of the active people here before are now gone,myself included...i pretty much just lurk around mostly. However,since it is still counted as a contribution to the club,we don't really pay it much attention,everybody has individual writing styles. Although the RP's are still pretty good. :)

NocturnalMirage Hmm... I used to write fanfics in said descriptive manner, but I don't really have the time and energy for that anymore, since I'm doing physical labor for 9 hours a day. Besides, no one was really reading through my long chapters anyways. An the problem is that whenever there's a conflict, it usually cannot be solved by debating in a civilized manner, no thesis vs anti-thesis or anything, it always ends up resorting to petty insults and feelings are hurt. I don't like conflicts at all because they create negative energies. But that doesn't mean, I'm gonna run away from them. My problem is that they cannot really be solved here INTELLECTUALLY. "Say I'm ignorant one more goddamn time and I'll rip your head off!" That's how conflicts are "handled". I've seen it many times, it always comes down to that level. If we can solve an argument or at least come to an understanding in a debate-like form, that's all right. but it's not the case. I understand your point completely, the club used to be more... diverse in the old days. But there are only like a handful of people contributing at this point, while back in the day, there were significantly much more active members. As I've heard. Although, I gotta say, despite the truthfulness and the straightforward fashion, I'm not particularly fond of the tone of your article, kinda gives me the "high horse" impression... High horse... in a club for ponies... get it? xD Yeah, I know it's terrible but I couldn't resist. :D

NocturnalMirage you're welcome, but why is that tone good? :) I know people here who are quite intellectual themselves, people who are definitely not ignorant or anything such.

NocturnalMirage Can I tell you something? People who were looking for "entertainment" kept tormenting me through most of my childhood! Just cos I had glasses! I have learned everything I have to know about human nature back then! and since that time I have learned to meet hatred with hatred. I'm sure you've been through enough yourself... but if you haven't... don't be too hasty to place judgement upon others.

triq267 Okay I read the title of this article and immediately knew every single argument you were going to make. Can't say I disagree. Yeah, you used the high horse position, which really isn't new for either you or myself. Being the FAB FUCKING FIVE (note, "FUCKING" was added for emphasis, not because that was the activity in which we participated)(or maybe it was *wink*) kinda did that to us. I'd CHILL (kek) out a bit on this one, just because seniority is not a trait which many people really give a rat's ass about around here anymore, and whether or not that is a good or bad thing is kinda up in the air. Also, the comment about relationships was like punching my heart in the balls and you know it. Always remember, never forget and all that bull. btflash @NocturnalMirage To be honest, I grew up pretty cynical of human nature. Throughout childhood, I was an outcast. I was alone in a world full of friends. My bus rides home consisted of me staring out the window, that being the only means of entertainment. It wasn't that people hated me, it's that I had different thoughts and interests than anyone else. My moral compass is pretty top notch (yeah, yeah, blah blah blah conceited, etc.), and I grew up in a town where people turned to violence, drugs, and sex for entertainment. As a result, by the time I got to freshman year in high school, I was a pretty angry kid. I hated my peers, and they stayed away from me. And I stayed away from them. I was an outcast of my own volition, because I didn't believe I needed anyone. I was alone. Sophomore year, I stumbled upon this site, as a result of looking for pokemon trivia (no joke, that's literally the singular reason I ever found this club). Once I got into the mlp craze, I of course joined this club. The show, and this club, sent me through a lot of changes. Once i got familiar with the club (which didn't take long), I found myself tapping into my angry nature by bringing myself into combat against various trolls (see RIP section of triq's post), and other people that would dare offend me or my friends (I.e. the FAB 5). The Fab 5 changed my perspective on life. I finally had friends that I could CALL friends, and I was starting to warm up in real life, as well. I was becoming less cynical, more kind. Less angry; and above all, much more happy. The point I'm bringing this all into, though, is that this club is a big part of who I am. A lot of memories are stored here. My high points, and my low points (said low points are pretty entertaining, actually). This club, if anything, is sentimental to me. Though many of my friends have come and gone from this club (though triq is still here, hell yeah), their memories live on through what this club is today. Some part of me wishes I could go back to how things used to be, you know? Now that I've grown up and mellowed out, it would be nice to talk to the rest of the fab 5 again, you know? But yeah, nocturnal, I know what it means to meet hatred with hatred. I've had lots of that in my life. This club is worth too much to me for me to give up on, is all.
