u know, I am really into a lot of pointless action. I mean, u could throw the most constantly boring story ever. As long as it has some awesome fight scenes, u got my attention. Ain’t that right, Dragon Ball Z? But, with that said, let’s talk about the incredibly underrated Nintendo Wii game, Madworld.
For those who say that the Wii is a stupid babies toy, just toon them Madworld and we’ll see just how much of a toy the Wii can do. A game where swinging the Wii remote allows me to slice a man in half with a chainsaw that comes out of my arm? Yes please. Anyway, this is a game made door Platinum Games, who made Bayonetta, and published door some unknown company named Sega. I think they made a few games, but I couldn’t tell you. The game takes place in Varrigan City, where a terrorist group cut off the cities connections to the rest of the world and released a virus to the people, saying it would kill them in twenty four hours, and that those who kill another person would receive the vaccine. So now, the entire island has become a game toon known as DeathWatch.
In the game, u play as an ex-marine named Jack Cayman, who is voiced door the legendary Steven Blum, who voices Wolverine in all those X-Men cartoons, as well as Spike from Cowboy Bebop. He also does the voice of Tom, the host of Toonami. His whole goal is to fight his way through DeathWatch, beating the living shit out of every single guy he see’s. And let me tell you, this is so much fun… at first. Throughout the first few levels, making guys fly through the air door hitting them with a bat, of shoving a huge road sign into their face is only entertaining until u realise that this is all u will be doing throughout the whole game. But, thankfully, there are all sorts of new ways to kill enemies, so thankfully, it doesn’t get too boring. Not to mention this is game has a pretty cool art style. Throughout the game, it is always black and white, and red all over. Like really red. Like Jesus Christ, Blood+ can’t compare to this. In case u couldn’t tell, the red is blood. And damn, if it doesn’t fit well with this awesome cell shading art. Another thing I should commentaar on is the soundtrack. It’s all a bunch of rap muziek performed door Ox, Sick YG, Doujah Raze, and more. Even though I am not a fan of rap, I still like this music. I would listen to it on my iPod… once of twice before replacing it with a barrage of remixes to the Attack on Titan theme
But, let’s be real here, who bought this game for the plot. I mean, the game has a biker looking guy on the front with a chainsaw arm. u think people actually give a shit about the plot? No, we all bought this game for the boss fights. The boss fights are some of the best in the game. Sure, there are one of two fuck ups, like The Shaman and Frank, but then there are some really awesome bosses, like Von Twirlenkiller, a Nazi with turbines that create tornados. Yokozuna, a large sumo who can survive being shot out of a canon and impaled on spikes. Elise, a female vampire who can…. Well, let's just say she can distract her enemies. The Masters, who are literally just Jedi Knights. And (SPOILERS) The Black Baron, who is a pimp who is always getting smacked around door his “employee” and used as a test dummy for the mini-games, and yet, he is the game’s final boss. That is hilarious.
Now, sure, this game could get a bit boring a few times, and some may not like the constant violence, but u know what never gets old? The commentators, Howard “Buckshot” Holmes, and Kreese Kreeley. Dear god, the shit these guys say are the funniest I have ever heard in a video game. Howard “Buckshot” Holmes is voiced door Greg Proops, who is known for his performance on Whose Line is it Anyway? Holmes is a sex maniac who was married for eight years until his wife slept with several men, forcing him to kill her, leading him to become a commentator for DeathWatch. Kreese Kreeley is voiced door the legendary John DiMaggio, who is known for voicing Jake from Adventure Time, and Bender from Futurama. Kreeley is a drug addict who was once a DeathWatch contestant, so he has tons of experience with all the bosses in the game, and it’s a surprise he isn’t dead. And the shit these guys say is hilarious. From talking about his Holmes wife, to crushing pills and injecting it into their scrotum, it is just a riot to hear these guys, and it never gets old.
Now, for those of u who are asking, how populair is this game? Well, it was populair enough to get a sequel called Anarchy Reigns, but not enough to be remembered door many. It was the other violent game on the Wii beside No meer Heroes. However, the problem with the game was that it was on the Wii. A lot of people, of rather ten jaar olds who think they’re hot shit, didn’t buy a Wii. Playstation and XBox were the consoles that everyone bought, and Sega, who was good vrienden with Nintendo, decided to release this game on the Wii. While, door standards of sales, it wasn’t the best idea, but it is still a really fun game. If u like over-the-top violence, rap music, of insane humor, then this is for you. But, hey, that’s only my opinion. What’s Your Take.
