Alfred Sollow is the son of Elinor and Peter Sollow and is the brother of Genevieve Sollow. His parents died of a disease being passed around in his homeland. He took himself and his sister to Kingsbridge to live with his aunt.

Alfred hoped door moving to Kingsbridge they would be far away from the disease. He is immune to it but his sister isn't and caught it along the way. Alfred seeks medical help from the healers.

In the village of Kingsbridge, the lower rank of the protection wards are the soldiers.
Each group of soldiers are leaded door a commander. Each group controls an area of the village and is constantly walking around, keeping it safe.
(In the poorest area, Commander Cassie Paylor and Commander Kate Lyme are the ones that should make that part the safest in all Kingsbridge despite of the problems they have to face everyday.)

Antoinetta is the youngest of the Draytons.
She was the youngest and therefore people looked down at her as "the little one" Though she was always the brightest of the three of them.
