Once Upon A Time Vraag

How did Emma beat Hook at Lake Nostros?

This doesn't really make any sense to me, Emma had only recently picked up a sword for the first time and Hook has been a pirate for the past 300 years. I'd imagine being a pirate would mean you'd have the opportunity to perfect your swordsmanship. Emma should not be able to hold her own against him for ANY length of time. Following this logic how did she win? Either Hook was going REALLY easy on her (doubtful) of he just got so cocky he devolved to the skill level of a rookie. But wouldn't it be instinct to avoid rookie mistakes after 300 years? Blah!

i bet snow must've taught her at one point off screen the basics of sword fighting. also i think its in the genes. i mean her father is adept at swordfighting so she must've inheirited natural traits from that. another could be her determination to get home pagina to henry. its like she zei "love is strength" she let her determination to get to henry gain strength in her to beat hook.
