If you think "Snow White" and "Prince Charming" have excellent chemistry onscreen, there is probably a good reason for that. The actors who play the couple, Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas, are engaged to be married and expect a baby in 2014. The two met on the set of "Once Upon a Time" and began dating shortly after.

The name of the "Mad Hatter" is "Jefferson" on the show, which is not just some random name writers assigned to the character. The name comes from the rock band Jefferson Airplane. The reason for the moniker has to do with the band\'s song "White Rabbit," which refers to the story "Alice in Wonderland" in its lyrics.

As "Emma Swan," the daughter of "Snow White," and "Prince Charming," Jennifer Morrison won the hearts of "Once Upon a Time" fans. However, another actor really wanted the part, and auditioned five times. Katee Sackhoff of "Battlestar Galactica" fame did not get the role, obviously, but she sure did put in a nice effort.

The character "Captain Hook" in "Once Upon a Time" does not exactly look or dress like the character from the classic "Peter Pan" tale. The "Queen of Hearts" role is called "Cora" in the show, a name that, like the "Mad Hatter\'s," fans will not find anywhere in the original "Alice in Wonderland" story. The name comes from the Latin word for heart, which is "cor." Barbara Hershey, Jennifer Koenig, and Rose McGowan all play the character. Her life mixes the storylines for the "Queen of Hearts" from "Alice and Wonderland," as well as the Miller\'s daughter from "Rumpelstiltskin."

In the animated Disney film version of "Sleeping Beauty," "Maleficent" describes herself as the "Mistress of All Evil." Fans may feel as if actor Kristin Bauer van Straten does a good job portraying the character on "Once Upon a Time," but she did not initially get the job. Actor Paula Marshall took the role on first, but producers decided to go in a different direction.

Ginnfer Goodwin plays "Snow White," whose Storybrooke name is "Mary Margaret Blanchard." The name Mary Margaret comes from the woman who many believe to be the real-life inspiration for the original "Snow White," who first appeared in the Brothers Grimm\'s version of the fairytale. Born in the 18th century in Germany, her real name was Maria Sophia Margaretha Catharina Freifräulein Von Erthal.

If you pay close attention to the opening title during the show\'s credits, you may see a little something hiding in the mist. From characters such as "Robin Hood" to symbolic items such as a spinning wheel, the hidden part gives a clue to what that episode may bring.

Like the evil queen in "Snow White," the one in "Once Upon a Time" also has a mirror she consults with, but this one is where her genie, named "Sidney Glass" in Storybrooke, resides. Fans can easily figure out Glass\'s last name since he lives in the mirror, but his first name, Sidney, may be a little more difficult. As it turns out, his name pays homage to Sidney Sheldon, the "I Dream of Jeannie" creator, since Sidney Glass\'s character shows some parallels with "Jeannie," who also lived in a bottle.

The Storybrooke version of "Cinderella\'s" character, "Ashley Boyd," stays pregnant for 28 years, despite having conceived her baby around the same time "Snow White" conceived baby "Emma." The reason for this is that "Snow White" gave birth before the Dark Curse happened. In Storybrooke, "Ashley Boyd" gives birth to a girl, "Alexandra," after almost giving her up for adoption.

The "Dr. Frankenstein" character goes by the name "Dr. Whale" on "Once Upon a Time." Like many of the other characters, there is more to the name than meets-the-eye. It pays homage to James Whale who directed Universal\'s original film "Frankenstein" and its popular sequel, "Bride of Frankenstein."

Many fans may already be familiar with this trivia: the creators of "Once Upon a Time," Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, were also the creators of the hit show "Lost." For fans of both of the shows, the similarity in the style of "Once Upon a Time\'s" flashback scenes to "Lost\'s" are one of the many obvious indications that Kitsis and Horowitz worked on both shows. Another indication is a few recycled cast members from their first show, cast again in "Once Upon a Time."
