Outlander EP Talks 'Shot in the Arm' Globes Nods, Sam Snub, Lord John

We took advantage of Moore’s good mood by asking a few questions about 

‘s upcoming second season, too. Read on for the details (hint: Lord John’s name comes up).

TVLINE | These are major nominations, especially for a new show with a weird concept.

We’re all very surprised and very honored. It’s really great for the entire team. They’re out there right now shooting in Scotland in the dark and cold. It’s winter. It’s a big shot in the arm for everybody. It’s a lot of hard work to make this show and it’s great to see it recognized.

TVLINE | I don’t mean to bring the party down, but it’s surprising Sam Heughan didn’t get nominated when Caitriona Balfe and Tobias Menzies did. Why do you think that might’ve been?

I agree. I wish Sam had absolutely been recognized, too. We always think of them as the Big 3 on the show. He’s a huge part of our success, so that is disappointing. He absolutely deserved to be recognized, as well.

TVLINE | You’re one of the few people right now who can compare Season 2 to Season 1. What can you tell us?

It’s more lavish. It’s a completely different look. It goes to Paris. It has a completely different vibe. It feels like we start the show all over again… You get this great sense that we’re on a big, long, epic adventure this year.

TVLINE | Are there any sequence/sets you think the fans will be really excited to see?

I think they’re going to be excited to see Versailles… The costumes are gorgeous this year. The aristocracy of Paris, it’s high end fashion as opposed to season 1 which was more of a rural, bland landscape. It’s grayer in Season 1. Season 2 is just much glossier, much more posh.

TVLINE | Have you shot the scene where the boy who will become Lord John meets Claire and Jamie?

Yes we have shot that scene. I haven’t seen it cut together yet, but it has been done.

TVLINE | You know I have to ask: Brianna and Roger? Have you cast them?

Very close. We’re hoping to be able to announce them very soon.

Agree 100% Amy. I can’t imagine anyone more ideal for Roger than Mr. Rankin. Brianna? No idea.

It’s a da*n shame that Sam was not nominated… I was so happy for the show and for Caitriona & Tobias, but da*n! Poor Sam! He must be so sad. That second half of the season was really Jamie’s.
