During the seconde semester of their first jaar of college, the members of New Religion moved to a pet friendly apartment that all four of them could share. It just seemed better that way, because for one thing, they were all very close, and for another thing, Erin and Lola would no longer have that horrible roommate with her awful boyfriends. One afternoon, Erin was strumming on her guitar. Fritz started barking, and Erin went to see what was wrong. Paul had returned from his afternoon class. He did not look like himself at all. Erin said, "Paul, u look terrible." He said, "Define terrible." Lola said, "You don't look like yourself. u look really tired." Carl said, "You do look tired. Are u feeling all right?" Paul said, "I just had one of the worst days." Erin asked, "What happened?" Paul sighed and said, "I need to sit down first." He sat down. Lola said, "Okay, now, tell us what happened." He said, "I went to my afternoon class, and I got my test back. I learned that I failed it. I did all that studying for nothing." Erin asked, "What did u make on it, Paul?" He replied, "A sixty-nine." She said, "Hey, u almost passed it. u didn't do that studying for nothing. Besides, it's one test. u zei u passed the vorige tests, didn't you?" Paul nodded. He still didn't feel any better. Carl said, "Something else happened, I know." Paul said, "Yes, something else happened. If that wasn't bad enough, one of my classmates sprayed a strong perfume, and I got a blinding headache. I payed attention to the lecture to distract myself from the headache. It barely worked." Lola said, "Oh, dear. Tell me that's the worst that happened." Paul said, "I wish I could say it is, but no, it's not. When I left class, I fell down the stairs in front of the school. Today is just not my day." He rolled up his pants leg to reveal the wounds on his leg. Erin said, "I'll help u clean them. I don't want them to get infected." She helped him clean the wounds and said, "Perhaps u should get some rest. I think u need it." A few hours later, Erin went to check on Paul. He was awake. She asked, "How are u feeling now?" He said, "I feel rested, but I still feel down." Erin grabbed her gitaar and played it. She sang the Beatles song, "Good dag Sunshine". Paul smiled and said, "Erin, u always know how to make me feel better." She smiled back and said, "Right back at you, Paul."
"What lead u to the club where u first saw us, Henry?" Les asked. Henry replied, "One of my neighbors told me that a rock band called A Wave Tossed in the Ocean was going to perform at the club that had opened the vorige week. I thought that the name sounded interesting, so I asked him what kind of rock music, and he said, 'I think it's stuff from the sixties and seventies.' I was eager to hear the songs from my youth. When I saw u perform, I knew u were the right fit. Of course, u know how we met backstage." Jimmy said, "And the rest is history." Everyone laughed. "Yes," Henry said. "The rest is history." Just then, Felix looked at his cellphone and said, "It's 10:00, guys." Henry said, "We better go to bed. We've got a big dag tomorrow." The boys all said, "Okay. Good night, Henry." Henry smiled and said, "Good night, boys. Pleasant dreams." With that, they retired to their beds for the night.
THE END
THE END
A few hours later, Una and Everett were comfortably snuggled up together on the couch, sharing the last of Una's chocolates which lay in the open box between them, as the credits rolled on the movie.
"That was so good," murmured Una, her head resting on Everett's shoulder. "You know - I was looking vooruit, voorwaarts to your plans, whatever they were going to be, but I was really hoping we'd be able to watch this."
Everett gave a small laugh and shook his head. "I wish I'd known. I could have saved myself all this trouble."
Una grinned. "This year, our Valentine's dag plans were on me," she said. "Next jaar I expect it to be your turn."
Everett felt a warm rush at the thought of volgende year, that Una was so certain they would be celebrating Valentine's dag together volgende year. But then... of course, Everett though. He wouldn't have considered anything different.
"I love you, Una," he said.
"I love u too, Everett," she said.
