"You shouldn't have come Ringtail!" Skipper held the quivering figure of the lemur in a hug. The two were beaten, bloody, battered. They grasped onto each other like their life depended on it. "I should have forced u to go back to the zoo... It's my fault," The penguin's voice cracked. His face was riddled with pain.
"No... It is being my fault, Skipper. I am always trying to be tagged along with u on missions," He leaned his head farther into the crook of Skipper's neck. The commander was going to ask him what he was doing but then he realized that the king was sobbing. Skipper placed a flipper on the lemur's back and patted it.
Skipper was about to close his eyes and enjoy the embrace he was in when laser blasts shot through the room. Both Julien and Skipper jumped to alert but then they remembered they were hidden pretty well behind a water pipe.
"Come out Skipper! I already got the rest of your friends. What's there left to lose?" Skipper grew infuriated as he heard his nemesis's signature laugh.
Blowhole was right. He had got them. His brothers, Maurice and Mort. He was lucky enough that he saved Julien from the stampede of lobsters. The others dropped one door one like fruit flies... And he couldn't do anything about it. Skipper didn't know Blowhole was planning to kill this time. It all got real when he shot down little Mort for trying to stop Blowhole's latest world domination machine.
"For King Julien!" The tiny lemur screamed before he was disposed of forever. Skipper saw first hand how hard his demise hit everyone, how meer determined everyone got to stop him. Sadly, pure determination wasn't enough and they all went down. He had to stop Julien multiple times from trying to scoop up the bodies; not enough time, too much risk.
"Come on Pen-goo-in! Let me finish u off!" meer lasers shot off, hitting the metal walls with bone rattling clinks.
"Skipper... I am being scared. What are we going to do?" Julien dug his head meer into Skipper's shoulder. The leader looked at him, whimpering and vunerable and he suddenly forgot all of the childish bickering they did. He forgot the animosity and knew it was his job to get the king, his last remaining friend, out of here alive and well.
"I have a plan," Julien's pulled his head from his shoulders and looked hopefully at him. "I might be able to distract him long enough for u to escape," The lemur king's ears drooped.
"But u are to be coming with me, Skipper! I am not going to be letting you!" Julien crossed his arms and looked at Skipper with a mature authority. For a minute, the commando leader actually wanted to listen to the Ringtailed lemur.
"Ringtail! I'm going to do this for you... Guys. I need to avenge u guys," Julien let his arms fall back down to his sides.
"Fine, do it. Just don't be coming to me when u are dead..." Julien's angry glare changed into a sad gaze. He wrapped his arms around Skipper's neck and hugged him tightly.
"Okay, Ringtail. u stay put until u hear my cue,"
"But what is being the cue?"
"You'll know when u hear it," Skipper gave one of his signature smiles before sliding from behind the pipe. Julien let out a deep breath and perked his ears to listen.
"Blowhole! Here I am! u wanted me... And here I am," Julien waited to hear that blast from the laser. He listened for the end of it all... But it didn't come.
"Skipper... I didn't think you'd surrender so easily," Julien peaked his head from behind the pipe, trying to keep his eyes on Skipper and away from the ground.
"It wasn't so easy..." Skipper looked around the room, his eyes lingering on Private's peaceful looking body. He blinked back a couple of tears before looking back at Blowhole.
"No need to mourn, Skipper. You'll be with them soon enough," Blowhole cackled and drove closer to the penguin. He pressed a button on the dashboard of his segway and a laser gun shot out.
"Their lives wasted... And for what? You'll stay unvanquished..." Blowhole laughed again.
"Their lives weren't wasted. That was very helpful to me. I get to kill u today," Skipper looked down at the ground. "Any last words, pen-goo-in?" Skipper glanced behind himself at Julien then turned to Blowhole.
"Nah... Not really, Blow Joe," The lemur froze for a minuut before he jumped from behind and ran to the escape hatch. As he ran, he heard the laser go off a couple of times. His eyes filled immediately with tears. He was about to turn back but he heard Skipper screaming.
"Keep going, Ringtail! Keep going!" He heard the laser go off a couple of times again and Julien picked up the pace. He jumped up to the button on the door and pressed it, the door sliding open. He jumped into the hallway on the other side and caught his breath.
"Oh Sky Spirits! Please protect Skipper!" He turned his head and looked through the closing door. Skipper was still trying to dodge the deadly laser beams. "Please..." He looked at the end of the tunnel and saw the outside.
"I might as well..." He began walking slowly and sadly out to the night sky awaiting him.
He couldn't help but feel that everything was his fault. That all of his vrienden are dead and being killed at that moment. It made his chest hurt thinking about it.
"What am I going to be doing now?" His body trembled with oncoming sobs. He closed his eyes and curled into a ball.
"I really don't know," Julien sat up and looked at the bron of the voice.
"Skipper... u are being alive?" The king stood up and hugged the penguin. "Oh... Thank the Sky Spirits!" He loosened his grip on him when he heard a groan of pain. "Sorry," Julien pulled away from him and looked him over. He was badly burned on certain parts of his body. It made Julien cringe.
"No no... It's okay," Skipper straightened his back and surveyed the area.
"Did... Did u beat the Blow Joe guy?" Skipper sighed deeply.
"No... He got away," Julien heard the pinguïn curse under his breath. "We can't go back to the Central Park Zoo,"
"But then where are we-"
"Blowhole's out to kill. We can't put those poor souls in harm's way. We're going to need to go somewhere where no one will notice the murders..." Skipper thought for a moment. "Hoboken..." Skipper shivered at the word. "We're going to Hoboken,"
